are you a father?

Hey guys!

Yeah, I am a Dad of two great kids (Jeremy 8, Sarah 7) and step-dad to two more (Kevin 15, Sharon 13). It's the most difficult yet rewarding job in the world. I am hardly a dad who considers himself to be a "great" one, and strive to move up into a better position as a role model everyday as I learn patience, from all of them.

I can't top any pictures posted here, but, my heart goes out to all of those kids who have no dads in their lives...some have not met their dad/father. It's gotta be the toughest for those children. I hope that we all (collectively, as a society) think about those kids and send a small prayer up for them once in a while.

The best advice to those that aren't fathers yet: Remember that anyone can father children...but it takes someone special to be a DAD. Think carefully before making your decisions and teach your children the importance of love, respect, and kindness for others. I have seen too many kids grow up without any of those qualities, and that, my friends make the world a tougher place to live. :)

I am!

Exactly 4 weeks old today (in about 50 minutes).

welcome to the "club"... !!!! ;)

I've been a grandfather five years now... the eldest daughter presented me with a granddaughter exactly five years ago... today was spent at the birthday party in the village hall... I had the younger grandson fall asleep on me so I got stuck in position and couldn't breakout...

I got my granddaughter a Ukulele and lessons for her birthday.

Bartman and Pacman, you're BOTH my heroes. Awesome pics and stories.

Here's my little guy last year. He's taken more interest in piano and drums lately, but that's OK.

Great shots guys. I'm also a proud Dad. Kaito is a four year old blond haired Japanese kid who loves the water just like his old man.

This is when he was five months old.

Yep, I have two daughters. They were born 13 months apart in December 1987 and january 1989.

My birthday is June 11, and Father's Day is the following weekend. We don't make a big deal out of Father's day, but this year and last year I played a father's day benefit concert so the family will be there listening and having fun.

Those of you who have daughters know that dads have no resistance to daughters. If worst comes to worst, they can go nuclear and roll out the word "daddy" and it's all over. Fortunately mine are great kids - tall (5'8"), healthy, reasonably attractive, and both are getting grades better than 3.0 in college. I figure that much of this is due to my wife, who is a wonderful person (we'll be married 24 years this November) and a great partner.

Here's a shot I took of them last night...

Hey Pilgrim, anyone ever tell you your daughter on the left kind of looks like Gina Davis? Or am I the only one who thinks so?

Great thread and great pictures!

Here's me and Mike, now 11 years old, at the beach last summer. Despite still listening to Radio Disney he's also turning into a a little rocker (we're going to see Rush this coming Saturday) and is also developing a taste for classical too.

He's also developing some musical ability and is already a better sight reader that I'll ever be. He's taken piano lessons, is getting pretty good on trumpet, and is now asking about playing drums. I've hardly touched a drum set since I stopped taking lessons almost 30 years ago, so I'd love to have a set in the house! :D
