Dave, that is awesome. Can't wait until my son is old enough to go see some concerts with us (read: attention span long enough). Whenever we're in my wife's car, Matt likes to listen to the Hair Nation channel on Sirius, and he'll bob his head to the beat. He says "I like the rockin' songs, but not the dance songs." Love it. :cool:

When I put that pic up I noticed it, too. I've thought that in the past as well - but it depends on the angle of the photo. I think she's fortunate to be an attractive girl with a good, independent mindset.

Good lookin' young man you have there yourself. Bet he's six inches taller now!

My son likes reggae. He's already seen Burning Spear and the Wailers. He saw the Wailers when he was 2. He was dancing the whole time. He loves it. He knows One Love (which he calls the Feel Alright Song) pretty much by heart. :smug:

I also took him to see Kansas three weeks ago and before the show he liked a few songs but didn't know what to expect. However, you'll be nearly as pleased as I am to hear that he walked out of the show as big a Kansas junkie as I am! :hyper: We also take him to Philadelphia orchestra concerts in the summer. They do it at a cool outdoor venue and we'll get lawn tickets, pack a picnic, and have dinner during the concert. It's really cool and he loves it as much as we do now. I'm happy he's a rocker, but I'm also happy he's learning to appreciate multiple genres. He's not quite there with the blues yet, but he does want to go see Joe Bonamassa with me the next time he comes around.

The fun part was hearing him tell MY dad about the Kansas concert a few days later. My dad was an outstanding violinist when he was young but hardly touched it since entering the Navy in (gulp) 1946. He's 80 now and just recently started playing again a) as something to do and b) to help work out the kinks from the arthritis that's setting in. Because of that, my son had to tell him about a rock concert with a VIOLINIST. My dad told Mike he rememebered me listening to Kansas when I was my son's age and said that was one of the few bands he could also listen to because of Steinhardt's playing, especially since he was doing it in a rock context.

Too bad Robbie isn't with them (again), but David Ragsdale did a great job with both violin and backing vocals, plus some occassional guitar. However, Billy Greer is now covering all of Robbie Stienhardt's vocal parts.

Both are beautiful girls , glad to hear they both turned out so well. But I'll bet neither is six inches taller since that picture was taken. ;)

Funny you agreed about the Gina Davis resemblance. It hit me right away but I don't think it's obvious, at least in that picture. I wasn't sure anyone else would see it.

Mike's growing like crazy these days and probably is about 6 inches taller than he was then. He's a lot heavier too - and it's all muscle. He can really do some damage now when we wrestle.

My birthday is June 11, and Father's Day is the following weekend. We don't make a big deal out of Father's day, but this year and last year I played a father's day benefit concert so the family will be there listening and having fun.

Those of you who have daughters know that dads have no resistance to daughters. If worst comes to worst, they can go nuclear and roll out the word "daddy" and it's all over. Fortunately mine are great kids - tall (5'8"), healthy, reasonably attractive, and both are getting grades better than 3.0 in college. I figure that much of this is due to my wife, who is a wonderful person (we'll be married 24 years this November) and a great partner.
