Are you happy today?

Sounds like everyone should be just a little LESS productive once you start going into the office.....

Not going to work; if Relic's new boss is doing her "I am new boss, hear me roar, my little peons" game then any decline in performance is going to be met with meetings, meetings, more meetings, mandatory team-building, and other such useless tripe that just distracts people from doing their job.

Depending on what Relic's contract says about working from home (e.g. if it's a specific provision in the contract), then to truly revoke wfh a new contract would have to be signed. Refusing to sign it would be a good start; at least, if you're living in a state where you can't be fired for looking at your boss wrong...

If it were me I'd probably tell new boss where she could put her ideas about not working from home after it being allowed for 4 straight years, and would most likely just keep doing things I'd been doing them. Then again I'm an opinionated bass-tard, and in my field of work I can back up such things with the "I'm one of the best you got, so either we're going to compromise here, or I'm walking" threat. YMMV :)

As to the OP, he'll yes! I live at he beach, walk 150 ft to my office (which means I have the world's most valuable perk.....I never have to crap in a public bathroom!)

Reminds me of the time I lived in this little walk-in closet right on Ocean Drive in South Beach. Mornings were nice: wake up, shower, dress, grab laptop, walk downstairs, cross Ocean Drive, enter Starbucks, get coffee, exit Starbucks on the other side, and sit my ass on the beach and work. Toilet breaks at home, charging breaks at home, and ... well other kinds of breaks but that's an entirely different story.

Back on topic: am I happy today. Umm, yes actually. Even though it's 7am as I write this and I haven't actually slept since yesterday. But: I got my wife her new laptop (yay nookie for me), I got to spend some of my boss' money on shinies (geek toys), managed to set a new personal time record in driving 60 miles on the local toll road, and during some bass practice things suddenly just clicked and I had one of those practice sessions where I almost convinced myself I could really play. Right up to the point I managed to horribly miss a note and crashed and burned on the whole practicing thing. And now I'm here, on TB, wasting time, posting random things, and generally wondering what my brain is doing, and with whom.

I'm quite happy today. Found out the reason why my kitty's been peeing blood the past day. Turns out it's only a urinary infection (which, let alone, could lead to crystals, eventually swelling of the urinary tract, eventually death). 130$ vet bill to get him checked and get anti-biotics. Pretty cheap, IMO.

I also get to work a regular 8 hour shift tonight, rather than a 10 or 12 hour shift. It'll be a relaxing day today. And I also ordered an Ampeg Micro-VR. Should be here soon.

It's been another phenomenal day! I woke up at noon, fed the pig, went to the BBQ joint for a two hour lunch, went to a friend's house and got my torso cast for statue molds for his Greco/Roman monster-themed haunted house, had an awesome dinner there, went to another buddy's bar and watched some crappy horror flicks, and now I'm being lazy in bed with the wife while the pig is squeaking at me to feed her.

I'm not particularily happy, I had a gig to night and throughout the entire show, all three hours of it my amp (well actually the amp I was borrowing) was making this terrible buzzing sound. The other guys kept giving me looks but really there was nothing I could do about it. When I got home I walked into an argument which always annoys me. Now because of that, it's almost 2:30 am and I can't sleep, which is great since I have a big audition tomorrow morning. Hmm...

i'm sore, i'm tired, i have to get up for work at 630 am, but my belly is full of tacos and my kids are playing around my feet

i'm a happy man

Thanks to the OP for providing the opportunity for someone to express such a subtle yet sublime picture of happiness as this. My life is much the same.

I'm working and getting by, albeit just barely sometimes, my wife and kids are wonderful, I'm 42 and playing in four bands, I love my low-paying, hourly, part-time job, my bank-owned home is my castle and my fridge is full...

I could go on and on; I have so much to be thankful for.

There's always a whole lot of "suck" in the world, and no one's life is perfect; for some, far from it. But no matter how it ends for me, I'm going out Monty Python style, baby:

"Always look on the bright side of life! Doo-doot! Doo-doot, doo-doot, doo-doot!"

Thanks again!

Man, if you guys thought I was happy last week, you should see me today. Ive been frikkin BEAMING since last Saturday night. I dont think the smile has left my face.

I also happened to find out Saturday afternoon that my PA is not broken, but rather I have a blown speaker, which should be much easier to fix.

I got my grades for summer course I just took (an A-). I got the paperwork through for work to pay for the last course in my masters. I ate an awesome breakfast and lunch. I get to lift weights in my own gym this afternoon. If the weather stays nice, I'll get to mow and trim the yard tonight too. Not too shabby for a Monday...
