Aria Bass Serial Numbers

I have been looking online and have not successfully found a great site that has Aria bass serial numbers. I just picked up an older Aria bass this morning and am not sure as to when it was made could anyone help me out? It says it is made in Japan, it appears to be from early to mid-eighties. The serial number is 1046961. Thank you for whatever help you can give me.

Typically Matsumoku made Aria / Aria Pro II basses can be deciphered as such:

If the 1st Number is a 6 or Less ad 1980 to it and that is the year.

If it is 7 or Greater add 1970 to it and that is the year.

Aria started serial numbering their basses in 77, and I believe the Matsumoku factory came to an end in 1987, so this "Method" is pretty safe.

Here is a Link to offer some other insights...

Hi there,
I own an Aria ProII Avante Series 6 string bass serial number S4080836 made of Swamp Ash body and 3 piece rock maple neck through, natural finish, original pickups and preamp.
I would like to know the year and country where it was built.

It is a great sounding bass:

I suppose it was made between 1995 and 1998.

Could anyone help me track this great sounding bass, please?
Thank you.

You may want to start your own thread on the subject.

I don't know for sure how to date your bass, but it is my belief that the 90s Avante basses were made in Korea. Are you sure it's a swamp ash body? I think it may be alder.

Hi all, I’m trying to find out if a beaten up “legend” Precision is actually Aria?
Ch025236 on the neck to body plate, possibly a pile of crap but it’s got me wondering… add some bareknuckles and see what happens.

Afternoon
New guy here looking for some help please

It was made in 1982. Not sure of the UK market but here I’m the U.S. that bass is worth between $1200-1600 based on the ones I’ve seen sell on Reverb. That’s assuming it’s in in good condition and the electronics all work properly.
