Post a pic. Someone will be able to help.
Yes. I think this is a current, or very recent, model.Edit: Neverminded, I think it's probably a year old or two.
Can you help me date this bass? It's for sale on Ishibashi, serial is 16209471, my guess is that it's a new reproduction. Have been wanting an Aria Pro II for a while and this ice blue color is really lovely.
Thank you.

Serial number would indicate 1986. IIRC, every bridge had the same stamp. That “1980” is when the bridge itself was built or designed.Hey all. Beginner bassist here. Guitar player since Covid. Got my hand on an Aria Pro ll Classic Laser Electric that's from about 1980. (Made in Japan 1980 on back of the bridge) Looks a little bit the worse for wear, but I suppose after 40 odd years we all do. Not sure if this came as an Active/Passive with the switch or if it was added later. Works great as passive, haven't tried it as active as I need 2 9v’s. Serial number is 6061445 on neck plate.
Thought about sanding body down to wood and either going to black or leaving the wood visible. Thoughts please? View attachment 5212225 View attachment 5212226 View attachment 5212227 View attachment 5212228

Thanks for replying to all the people who've made serial number enquiries. Mine is:May 1980
The first zero is the the second digit of the year so 1980, the second zero is for the month 08 so August, and IIRC the last three numbers are the number of the run made so the seventh bass made that month. Thanks for replying to all the people who've made serial number enquiries. Mine is:
From the given technique I believe that my SB 700 was made in July 1978 from its serial number of 008007. I'm intrigued by all the 0's. Does this mean my bass is the original? Here it is. It's been defretted rather nicely at some time in its history. I like the metal inserts that can be seen from the side and the top.

That serial number sequencing only applies to Matsumoku made instruments, IIRC. Anything made as late as 1990 either didn't have serial numbers or had a sticker. Maybe show a photo and we can narrow it down.I have an old (1993 or so) Aria Pro II and am curious about the actual age. The neck plate number is 0120550.
Based on responses, I would say:
December of 1990 and the 550th bass made. Is that a fair assumption?
Is it an XRB? If so, they started appearing in Aria catalogs in 1987 but seem to be gone by 1990. Once Matsumoku was out of the picture the serial numbers seem to be random.
The SLB series ran from 1988-1992. The SLB2 was passive. The SLB2A was active and was introduced in 1990.
