I'm thinking of buying this bass. Thoughts?

Unfortunately I do not have experience with that Aria but I do own a 83 SB1000 I bought new. That bass is extremely well made and I love it. You might also look at SX basses from Rondomusic.com. I have their Scorpion Jazz copy, it's a great bass and cheap! Search the threads for SX basses, you will be amazed by the good things being said about them on TB.

On these forums SX basses have had good things said about them, but not a lot of people have played them. I have played this Aria bass and it is fantastic value for money, I just wanted some thoughts on people who have owned this bass or similar. And it is really a basic version of Cliff Burton's Aria Pro II. :smug: :hyper:

I just procured an Aria J-type bass for the 16-year-old son of a friend. It was by far the best-made budget bass I could find locally. It blew away all the Squiers, Coxx's etc. that I tried and that cost appreciably more. At 150 euros (~$190) it was an absolute bargain. Go for it, I say.

If you like the way Fenders feel you'll probably be very happy with it. I just bought and sold a STB-P, I don't like the way Fenders feel. I've read that the pickups aren't good, but I disagree - it went from too bassy to too trebly with the tone knob, so there's a lot of room in there to find something you like, especially since yours will have the J pickup as well. Looked like a well made bass to me.

I'll post a review when I get it for sure, with pics. Might be a few weeks becuase I need to sell some stuff to get the money! I'm getting it in black :) Apart from being based on Cliff Burton's Aria Pro II, it also looks like it has been based on a Fender Aerodyne too. Check it out.

Stan, be sure to shop around. The price you quoted (£140), while still cheap in view of the almost incredible build quality, seems unnecessarily steep compared to the €150 that Arias go for where I currently am (Finland). That would be like £100.

this is absolutely one of the best basses ive ever purchased for the the price...easy as pie to play and has a great kick to it....Stan you cant go wrong with this one, well built and solid BASS...:bassist:
BTW how do i post pics on this ? lol
