That’s my exact setup right now. I too love the sounds I get from the Arkham. The beast replaced a WD800 for me. Very similar setup it seems.

Sometimes I consider simplifying to a powered cabinet and selling the subway cabs I use with the beast and selling the beast as well so I can just have a scalable rig. Just pedalboard when I’m PA only, add the powered cab when required and then DI to PA for anything larger.

But good powered cabs aren’t cheap and selling stuff is a lot of work so probably will keep running this setup for the foreseeable future

I really love it as well. A/Bing the preamp in my Beast vs my Noble, I like the Arkham better. It cops perfect old-school tones through my B-15 cab, and with my Subway 215 it just blows everything else out of the water.

Someday I'll get myself an Oracle, hopefully with a few tweaks/mods from the stock spec. Between that and the Noble, I'll be set with two different amazing flavors.

Sure glad I got mine when I did! I think Zephyrs have been selling used for at least as much as I paid new. I used mine on a gig last weekend, and will again next weekend.

In all fairness, I think the Oracle does everything the Zephyr does except for separate levels for the 1/4" out and balanced out. And the new version of the Oracle (outboard power) is a real winner on a pedalboard with a proper power supply.

I just picked up a BOBW. Unfortunately, it's making some serious snap crackle and popping noises if the master goes past noon or if I try to turn up the preamp gain. Has anyone had this issue and was it tube related? I thought I'd ask before arranging for shipping/repair to Arkham.

I would try something like 'deoxit' on the 'Gain' & 'Master' pots (of course, while it is unplugged).

Hey guys, been off of this thread for a while, but I wanted to dip back in. I find myself really missing my Oracle preamp. That thing was fantastic sounding. And I’m thinking about getting back into the newer smaller model with the barrel power connector as opposed to the older IEC.

My question is: due to the voltage requirements, has anybody found an option for powering it that does not involve the wall wart?

Yeah the cioks crux powers mine with plenty to spare. I looked into a couple of other options at the time, I think there's a mission engineering one that runs from a usb c, plus battery bank options but the crux was the simplest solution.

Or if you prefer more conventional options : Cioks Sol

In both cases, you’ll need to sum the intensity of 2 outputs with a Y cable. Be careful not to pick ont that puts both outputs in series (which would not double the intensity, but the voltage instead !)

MIcah had told me the Oracle has a power surge when you turn it on, then the power consumption goes down. 1.5A requirement is written so that it will work 100%.
Considering the Oracle requires less than 1.5A , and considering outlets generally produce a bit more than what they say, it could work.
You should try and look if the power supply puts itself in safety mode because the power consumption is too high, turning on and off repeatedly, or not. If it works, just make sure it doesn’t overheat.

FYI, 2 outlets from the Cioks Sol produce 1330mA and it works perfectly to power the Oracle.
