I just bought an Oracle from the classifieds last week. Wish I needed another one. Mine does not have the DI though and I was considering buying one of the new Arkham DI’s. Wonder if it would make more sense to buy this and sell my non-DI version.

I just bought an Oracle from the classifieds last week. Wish I needed another one. Mine does not have the DI though and I was considering buying one of the new Arkham DI’s. Wonder if it would make more sense to buy this and sell my non-DI version.
but that also why I'm thinking is it a better option to buy an oracle with a DI and sell my current oracle? The DI is $200 (plus tax and shipping) and this Oracle with DI is $575. If I can sell the non-DI for $400 or more then presumably I would save a few dollars and some space on my board.
Or I can just look for a less expensive DI and find space under the board to mount? I dunno.
I just sold my noble and pulled the trigger on an Oracle. I’m already dreaming about rolling tubes… what new tubes do you guys suggest I check out?
Picked up a Arkham Oracle from another TBer! I love the tone and find it fills the void my Ampeg B15r left when I sold it. Currently using it with my jazz bass+GK 200mb (set flat) and GK Neo 112ii but will build my next rig around it when/if a join another band.

I have not spent enough time to really know this amp, but man, there are a lot of tones in there! Output-wise, it's right about where you would expect it to be, and more than enough to gig - with the right cab(s). It definitely gives a bit more clean headroom than most similar tube heads, and it sounds very full.
The Arkham was also able to spend some time with some friends. Man, these all-tube heads are so fun to play around with! They all have their own personality, and they all take tweaking in different ways. You definitely can dial in a good bit of similarity between them all (if that is your goal), but like I said, they each have their own voice and personality. This was fun! More fun coming, for sure... I definitely want to try the 70w vs. my Beast of Both Worlds.
These shots give you some idea of the size of the Ultra Linear 70w compared to some contemporaries. Each of those cabs had its own personality, too, of course. I did most of my comparisons pushing all of the heads through the 212AV.

That's a pretty awesome purposeful pedalboard, how's the low rider pedal? I was quite interested in getting one, but not sure how much difference it really makes etc
The Lowrider is pretty fantastic. I’ve only played it through some studio monitoring headphones and there it sounds incredible. I will see on Thursday how it sounds through a PA. It really tightens up the low end and is super easy to adjust so I don’t have to spend time second guessing myself. The Broughton RFE always had me dialing things in. This is set it and adjust the intensity of the effect.
I finally got around to doing a little tube rolling in my Zephyr. I was ordering some stuff from tubesandmore.com, I've been wanting to try a JJ ECC803S (long plate ECC83/12AX7). When everything added up, I was close to the threshold for free shipping, so adding a JJ E83CC (frame grid ECC83/12AX7) ended up being pretty cheap.
The Zephyr came with a Sovtek 12AX7WA. A good, solid tube, really, but could there be something better? I tried the ECC803S first, and actually didn't like it that much. It seemed just a little dirtier than the Sovtek. The E83CC was a pleasant surprise - much the same character as the Sovtek, but a little fatter, juicier, nice clarity. Was that because it's better than the Sovtek - or just newer? Anyway, it stayed in. Now I have some more tubes to try in some of my other tube gear.
I only used one bass for testing - my Alembic, because it has a great variety of tones to put into the preamp, and it's the one I plan to use this preamp with in the near future. I probably should have plugged in the fretless too, because that bass gets used a lot and might also get run through the Zephyr sometimes.
So if you have one of the fine Arkham preamps - I think different tubes really do sound different in that circuit. If you have some spare 12AX7-type tubes and a cool, cloudy, damp afternoon for indoor activities like I did, take some time to experiment.

Nice, I ended up using a yugo ti 5751. The second go around couldn't find one, but a JAN 5751 was very comparable. I did the same for my meatsmoke's high gain side too. For my bass output, I had more range on the gain.
