Thank you! Great way of describing the tone, for sure. When I very first fired it up (without even checking where the tone controls were set), it immediately offered up a very warm, round, big, fat tone. Then, after playing around with the tone controls for a while, I found myself with a very clear, harmonically rich, more "vocal" tone. After still more playing, I had a mid-forward, more wooly tone. Later, I had a fairly "flat" - but still harmonically rich - tone dialed in. It really does cover a lot of ground, but the controls are definitely very interactive, and I still have some learning/experimenting to do. Definitely looking forward to comparing it to my Beast.

Also, you have me very inspired to try it with some of my AudioKinesis cabs!

So, far, the output is just about exactly what I expected - having experience with several 50w and several 100w tube heads - and with the right cab(s), I'd say absolutely gig-worthy. I am not sure if I will end up gigging mine, much, but if I do, I'll probably have a road case made for it. I definitely want to keep this beauty in tip top condition!

not a fan of the PSU version of this pedal. i was considering it but now that it lost the regular AC CABLE I'll skip it. I prefer the regular power chord like the previous unit. I have a pre amp (bass rig) with a PSU and the adapter failed on the gig..guess what, did not a spare 9 V adapter..so had to switch to a DI on the spot. Not cool.
A pro solution needs to be reliable like NOBLE or FELIX with a regular power supply, and being able to power some pedals like these two units do is an awesome plus.

A power transformer can fail, whether it is inside your pedal or inside your power supply. The questions are : where do you want it ? If it's inside your pedal, you can make it run at much higher voltage. However, you bring some noise in. If outside, it's as silent as it can be, but you might lack some juice. Making it run with 9V in makes it a completely different pedal, that's the most important part to me.

But even with the Noble, the power needs to be transformed somewhere. The only question is where and how it happens, and how the internal circuit is impacted by the voltage. But it does happen.

I don't know, I have 6 CIOKS units that all use the standard barrel connector the new Oracle uses, that constantly flex and move on sliding shelves, never once had a problem.

I'd get CRUX and be done with it. There's advantages to both, but I'd suppose for the cable to have damage it would be some serious tugging. Just think about all the other wall warts you use over the years, I can't think of many that had a problem with the actual wire. It would be the same failure rate on a standard pedal PSU.

Now, if the oracle is just on the floor by itself or atop a cabinet/head, I could see it possibly being a problem compared to the mains cable.

EDIT: you could have Micah make you a stronger power wire If that's the case

So my Oracle arrived today, I think I'm in love already. Even just messing around with it for half an hour has made me love the sound of each of my basses so much more.
It seems to bring out much more subtlety to things like the tone control, previously it was kind of an on, half or off kind of control, through the oracle, little adjustments seemed much more noticeable.

The sounds are really variable, but somehow they sound related. I think I'll be putting my tone hammer up for sale pretty soon by the looks of it.

I think I'd always have a spare 9v power supply in my gigging backpack, if not for my use, but for anyone else in the band, things like a one spot are cheap enough to just have as a backup, and if you're worried about wear you could buy some tecflex type braiding to put over the cable to help protect it.
I prefer the option of the 9v input, means if I'm ever anywhere that doesn't have ~230v power (outdoor generators etc) I'm still fine and it doesn't render my pedal useless.

Lots of questions about yesterday's post, so here are a few details. This amp uses my standard preamp topology, paired with either a 40W (6L6) or 70W (KT88) power stage, available in different configurations to suit your taste.
Buffered pre out, and power amp in may be used as a line level effects loop, or simply to bypass the power amp for use with other gizmos. Combo speakon/phone jacks.
