Nope!That's awesome and sounds about right to me. Is it possible to play doom at any other volume than "irresponsibly loud"?
Oh I’ve always listed after old SWR gear! I came very close a number of times to buying an electric blue head or red bass 350. The Grand Prix is just so cool to me, especially as a Motorsport fan. I get my Oracle to cover the 90s hi fi scoop pretty well, I think both the bass and treble open up a ton after the 3 o’clock position.
sounds super warm! My HPF is pretty much always on haha I push a lot of low end and play a 5 string and upright thru usually just a 112.
It is warm and gooey for sure, but I've actually been using it with the tone knob turned up a fair bit. I used to rock a flatter EQ on the amp and use my tone knob on the bass as my tone-shaping device, but I've been liking making more use of the amp's tonality and EQ recently. It means I don't have to roll the tone knob almost all the way off to get the sound I'm looking for, and I feel like I have a wider range of good tone on tap this way.

Yes, my friends, it doth Doom. - Two high gain inputs, with independant gain controls, Brilliant and Normal. Jumpering them with an A/B/Y box gives a gain (distortion) boost (switch between either channel, or both channels jumpered (boost))
- Treble, Middle, Bass, and Pre-Amp Out Volume controls with a Mute switch
- On back panel, Low-Z and XLR out with master volume, "Thru" jack
- Effects loop providing 6dB of gain to account for losses through any outboard effects...effects loop has a bypass switch.
- Run into the effects return of a Quilter Pro Block 200 then into a black and moss green (for even more/extra Lovecraftian flavor) FEARLESS F112
- Normal and -6dB inputs with Gain, Treble, Range, Bass and Pre-Amp Volume controls. Hi, Mid, Lo, HPF, and Mute switches
- On back panel, Low-Z and XLR out with master volume, "Thru" jack
- Effects loop providing 6dB of gain to account for losses through any outboard effects...effects loop has a bypass switch

I always wanted a small tube guitar amp as my “distortion pedal” after recording with a mic’d JCM900 412. A small 112 guitar amp can keep up with an 810 bass amp. No fair.
@Dave Hill that was my thought exactly. With the DR103 pre into the Pro Block 200 I get 200 watts of Hiwatt nastiness to get my John Wetton/John Entwistle type fix (I have a pedal in front of it that nails the Laney Supergroup sound too) so I can get super overdriven to distorted to fuzzed out madness (the F112 is more than enough to handle all that craziness too and throw it far and loud) and I got a metric eff-ton of clean, warm bassness from the Zephyr/BB800/F212 combo...nasty AND articulate...how I love a lot of things in life!!!
You do a similar type with the JCM and Zephyr combo, you could easily do the Chris Squire thing to the Lemmy thing and so so so much more...that would be sick.
Do you ever have issues with the two Quilter heads next to one another (particularly with overheating)? I ask because I wanted to do the exact same thing with the Pro Block and Bass Block. After messaging the company, Pat Quilter responded and specifically told me to not mount the two next to each other (his emphasis on the paraphrase) because the heat vents on the Bass Block are on the sides.
If there are, however, no issues in a real-world situation, I might have to reconsider this setup again...

I bought the mounting kit from Quilter (which now looks discontinued) that the two blocks are mounted in and I haven't had an issue...yet. This makes me worry a bit as it does not look like the mount has side ventilation. I will have to look into that and see if the mount needs to be modified.
Pretty good! Would have preferred the 500 so I could use the effects loop but it was not bad at all. It works well that you can keep the gain off and just use the master on tone hammers
edit: I definitely like Oracle into a tone hammer over just a tone hammer but the tone hammer EQ has been my arch nemesis of backlined rigs for years and soo many clubs in the nyc/Philly area have an Aguilar rig.

I've been so inspired by all of your fly rig boards on this thread that I just snagged a gently used Oracle. I look forward to trying this out! Thank you all for sharing!
Good for you! Interested to hear if you notice any difference between the Oracle and the Zypher side of your pre. These days I’m really considering just running direct to FOH without an amp at most clubs. Plenty of spots have the monitors for it, really just up to the sound tech, but im not sure im really gaining much from using these backlined rigs sometimes.
I definitely will let you know how it sounds and how it compares to the Zephyr channel! As much as I love my Arkham/Quilter/FEARLESS stack, I know it is not right for all situations and I want something that sounds great direct.
Yeah I hear that, especially for some of my gigs, it’s really worth it to travel as lightly as possible. Plus I live in a 3rd floor walk up so that trek gets old with a rig. My revsound cab starts to roll off at 4khz and I’m finding that when I run direct I need to flip the hi switch off even thought I usually run it on through my cabs. If you got an Oracle that doesn’t have a DI out I would definitely look into getting a cab sim pedal like the Darkglass.
I ordered the Oracle with an NOS tube. Since it sounds so good, I haven't tried other tubes.
