Does anyone here use an Oracle with distortion pedals? Thinking of running my HX Stomp distortion chain into an Oracle and then through a Baby Sumo. Should work great, yeah?
I run an Oracle into a Quilter PB 200 into two Bergantino 112s as my practice rig. In front of the Oracle I run a compressor, MXR Sugar Drive, a clone of a BATW Pharoah Supreme Fuzz by my buddy Ryan at RCO pedals, a Does It Doom Walpurgis Distortion (Laney Supergroup OD/Dist), an RCO clone of the Dunwich Olde Dirty Bass (so so grindy and amazing) and some chorus or reverb depending on my mood. It is doom-y for days. So warm, raunchy and crushing if you want it to be. Highly recommend dirt in front if an Oracle if that's your thing. :bassist:

Hey guys- tried the search, but didn’t have any exact results.
Can you lead me in the direction of the correct cable to run the Oracle standard version to use as a DI?
I am thinking I need a 1/4 Mono Male to a XLR Male. Will that work?
Thanks in advance.
To take advantage of a full balanced signal, which most XLR connections are made for, you'll need something like the attached, any DI will work, Micah can even make one for you although a little more $ than most DI boxes

https://www.broughtonaudio.com/product-page/proto-di

TS connection (your mono 1/4") only has 2 leads, XLR typically has 3

I think the signal will pass, I've used a XLR > 1/4" TS (mono), but I didn't expect it to be balanced any more. Stranger things can happen when running it opposite like you've mentioned. Radial is a common brand that makes DI boxes, there's many brands out there that are ready to ship.

Believe me, when J. Wolf posted about his power amp, the thought crossed my mind -- maybe I should have Micah build me a rack format version to pair with my preamp.
Probably silly, but a guy can think about it:cool:

I've thought about this too - I don't really ever run into the front end of most amps anymore since I have my Noble and want an Oracle as well. I almost always plug into the Power Amp In of whatever backlined amp I'm playing through.

Having Micah build me a rackmount 100-300w tube power amp would be AWESOME.

On a related note to preamps, someone in another thread mentioned that there might be an update to the Oracle coming soon. Does anyone have more info on that?

for what it’s worth, I unexpectedly had to pass up on my Arkam 1200. Micah currently has it for sale. Give him a holler if you are interested. I don’t think it gets any better in terms of standalone class d power amps in this form factor

I saw Micah post this on Insta this AM. Looks hawt!

Sorry you had to pass up the amp Jake -- hope all is well.

I don't have Instaspam, but I had a look on FB and, unless I'm mistaken, the amp has already sold. (Woosh!)

I've used with my Berg REF-15 and 12.. Also my V-Boutique 15..

My Beast goes thru a Bergantino NXT212, and occasionally my Acme B2.

No surprises here, but the Beast thru the Bergantino still sounds great.
Moreso when you can turn it up a bit!
Gratuitous gig photo:

The Beast into a 212 seems like about the ideal 60lb solution for any gig. Ever feel underfunded, or like you could use more speaker area? Ever wish you had a modular setup like SCT?
