Manages to reinforce the negative stereotypes of both heavy metalers and christians in one fell swoop. Quite a piece of work. 
I guess this guy lives by the creed "whatever it takes", whether to appeal to Christians or to get his ex wife out of the way.

No real need, but it guarantees more attention paid to the article. It's a hot button. I generally question the integrity of the media in general.

I wasn't aware that hiring people to kill your wife was a stereotype of either group...
It's tasteless. Say some guy runs over a kid while DUI. Would the article state his ethnicity, religion, etc.?
With the same kind of article structure it would looks something like this:
"A twelve year old girl was killed on Monday night in a DUI accident.
The 40 year old male, Bob Bobber, is currently held by the authorities and will be charged on two counts of aggravated DUI.
The victim was identified as Bab Babbette.
The incident occured as Bob Bobber was driving back home from an amateur football game. He said to the authorities he had been drinking since early that afternoon.
Bob had attended his local mosque the night before this incident. A person who knew him said he was quite dedicated to his religion and tries hard to live by it"
Seriously, it doesn't even makes sense.
More than few people have gotten nabbed trying to hire hit men. The message I take is that non-criminals need to stay in their lane.
I don't disagree with you a single bit. We live in a tasteless, shallow society. Not to distract from the topic of the article, but the handling of it hardly leaves anything but a bitter taste in my mouth.
Does Bab Babbette have a website with portions of his FAQ section dedicated to his r*******?
I wouldn't necessarily generalize. I'm an advocate of the importance of media in a representative democracy. I'm also an advocate of the importance of "hard-news" (as opposed to "soft-news") which is basically described as evidence based, methodological journalism.
This article however is clearly soft-news.
My point is that his religion or how he describes his band as a "christian" band is besides the issue that the journalist (should) cover in his article.
For the record, I'm atheist.
Anyway...this story is a trip. Never heard of this guy because I've never gotten too far into metal but wow. I didn't know people hired people to kill their exes in real life!!
I generalized based on consistency with your point in the first place. Obama is mailed poison from an Elvis impersonator for Mississippi and it's glazed over, but so help me if that was from someone of middle eastern descent, we'd still be hearing about it.
Hardnews? Absolutely. Importance of the media in this style of government? Absolutely. Do we have an unbiased, reliable source of media? Not in my eyes. You pick your spin and try to decipher yourself. Every source has a hand up their butt from some money based puppet master.
But why was it mentioned? See below:
People like to see it. It draws attention. People want to crucify someone. Does Christianity have hypocritical representatives? Absolutely. As does any group of anything ever involved with the human race. There is a point of diminishing returns passed with highlighting the extreme. Are all Muslim people extreme and terrorists? No way, but let me go ask the next 10 people I see on the street and hear what they say.
I'm not trying to debate anything as I've already said I agree with you. I guess I just don't particularly care for the culture of today's media. I just posted the thread thinking it was crazy lol.
I generally agree but the only reason it's an "article" is because he's famous...that's the price of fame.
it's cool, it's hip, it's in to bash Christianity and Christians themselves. Just look here on TB the bashing of Christianity and Christians goes unchecked in all instances but any other religions or balking at atheism will leave you feeling the sting of infraction points.
