Ashdown down, down, gone.

I have been anxiously awaiting my new Ashdown ABM500 EVO III head to arrive to go with my 4x10 ABM cab for day's now.
Well it finally get here, I turn it on and start to bond with this new beast
When I hear a pop proceeded by an electrical smell and a tiny puff of smoke. The head still on ,but no sound. I shut it down and am now waiting for action, hopefully by Monday. I sent e-mails to Ashdown and the place I bought it from Cream City in WI. The dealer is saying he will try and get his rep to get me another one.
Anybody here know what this problem was caused by?

I just needed to vent.:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Well, the good news is if there is a manufacturing issue or a bad component with a particular unit, it will crap out within the first day of ownership. I assume they will get you a replacement unit.

It happens sometime. Now, if it happens to user after user after user, that is a major issue. However, every brand that I know of has a few 'out of the box' failures. It could be something as simple as a solder joint getting shaken loose in shipping.

Assuming your retailer takes care of you (i.e., gets a replacement unit to you quickly, my guess is, you will be fine.

Ashdown's customer service has always been exceptional. Even if your dealer (for whatever reason) doesn't take care of you, Ashdown will.

I used their amps for years, and the couple of times that I did have issues with my ABM 500 EVOII, they went WAY beyond what I would have expected. Even gave me a couple of footswitches and mugs for my trouble :D

There's your problem - you let the smoke out. Never a good idea... ;)

Update-Well it's been five days now since the head failed,Cream City in Wis was great, and they got me in touch with Ashdown, Which are
Located in Tenn. They just sent me the tracking info. The rep couldn't get approval for any kind of rushed shipping, So it's UPS ground, which means another five or six days before I see it in Socal.
