Ashdown Little Giant 1000Watt - any good?

I am currently using a Peavey 696F PA head as my power amp, and to be fair it does the job well, supplying around 475 watts a side at 8ohms into Ashdown 4x8 cabs. However, it is one HEAVY motherfungler (it puts valve amps to shame in this regard). So, I'm looking at a lighter, more compact alternative, capable of giving similar room shaking volume. I've seen the Little Giant in a local music shop, and was wondering if it's worth getting? I don't need a lot of tone from the amp, as my EQ and also my basses tend to get the tone I want.

Any advice would be great,

Cheers!

I usually run mine into an Ashdown Mini 4x8 and a mini 15. Because there's two amps in the LG its powering each of the mini's at 8 ohms. Plenty of sound on stage last weekend. I've only tried running 2 4 ohm cabs with it once, it was a little farty for tone imo. Its a great match with the mini's though.

Ok I'll try this out too (see my other thread about CV P basses). My tone is......LARGE. Think Mike Kroeger, and you're close. My bass doesn't growl; it snarls. I have a 30 band graphic EQ (this helps with dialling in the grunty midrange!). However, is the LG1000 EQ any good? My mate says his has a bit of a farty low mid?

Hey i'm also thinking about this amp and i'm wondering what cabs are being used with this. I do some outdoor patio gigs with two screaming guitars and a madman on sticks. I could use the power but not sure what cabs to put with it.
