ashdown or avatar?

I want another 2x10 cab and I'm kinda undecided between the ashdown mag 210 for around $250 or the avatar neo 210 for around $350
I play through a LMIII and now I'm using a hartke 210 transporter (8ohms 150 watts) and an old peavy 1 15 with a black widow
Truth is, the hartke transporter can handel almost every gig I play and I'm tired of draggin the peavy around, so, I want another 2x10 for the times when I want to push more air.
I usually play a precision with flats and the band is blues/r&b/ and rock in smaller venues.
I guess my main questions are:
Is the Avatar that much better than the ashdown?
Am I getting a $500 cab with the avatar and only a $250 cab with the ashdown?
I am leaning toward the avatar because I like the 500 w rating but I've never used a cab with a horn...the pairing of the avatar with the hartke should be ok because I'll get an 8 ohm avatar if that's the brand I go with.
So, I'd like to hear from fellow tber's who've A-B'd the two cabs...or used an avatar/hartke210 or ashdown/hartke 210
setup...or just your views on the ashdown or avatar 210's Thanks

Ashdown MAG is made in Asia, China most likely. Avatar is made in the US. Go Avatar.

I very much regretted not just biting the bullet and getting and Avatar cab to begin with.

Oh ya...and +1 for it being made in the USA!

I had an Ashdown MAG 4x10 and thought it was awesome....till I tried any other brand of 4x10 (Fender, Warwick). Got rid of it right after that.

Avatar is next on my purchase list. I only hear great things about them.

I have a MAG210, and I'm not very impressed with it. It's a fine practice cab, but for playing live I find it lacks low end and punch. I do use mine live as a companion to my 1x15 Trace Elliot cab, but not by itself very often.

I say go with the Avatar as well. I'm about to ditch my fridge and downsize to an Avatar 4x10.

Thanks for your replys and opinions...sounds unanimous for avatar...and that's the way I was leaning anyway....I wish I could swing the custom tolex and grill, but for now, I'm going with the no frills neo 2x10 8ohm....and rated at 500 watts even at 8 ohm's I'll never have to worry about overdriving the speakers with the new LM III and for 90% of the places we play it can be a stand alone cab!
A couple of questions though:
As usual, I had an add on the local cl looking for an avatar 2x10 about 2 weeks
ago...no responses...and then today, when I got home from work and had pretty much already decided to order the neo 210...I get an email from someone who'd read the cl add and wants to sell me a linex finished 210 with a blown horn/tweeter.... Now, I'm gonna already order the new one anyway but, if I can get the linex for a reasonable price and the tweeter replacement isn't too costly I might go ahead and get the cl one .
My questions, finally...How expensive and how difficult is it to replace the horn?

I'm not speaking for others, but I turn the tweeter all the way down (off) on my Avatar 210 Cab. ...And I LIKE a trebley sounding rig!

carefull , i've heard you can cause crossover problems turning it all the way off. I'd say go avatar,love my 210 neo,rewired it to work with the horn controll on my gk head,so no reaching around back

A single 210 cabinet by "any" manufacturer usually doesn't make for a good stand-alone cabinet except in a low volume rehearsal/small gig situation. Add a second 210 cab and it's a different story! Stack those two 210's as a vertical stacked 410 makes em' even better IMHO.
I'm with a 6 pcs., country/rock group and I've run a single Avatar 210 cab (with FOH support) with much sucess.
I'd send Dave at Avatar a e-mail and ask what the cost would be to replace the horn and what might be involved in putting it in.
