Ask a guy from New Jersey anything...

Nice. I'm exit 3.

Here is a photo for folks who don't understand pork roll.

the Stone Pony! Yes! We never played the Rock Horse though.

there was one tiny bar that we used to play at not too far from where the old "Tillie" sign thing used to be, I cant remember the name, but that place was a trip.
It was a bar set amongst regular houses and as luck would have it there was an old lady who lived next door to the bar. EVERY damn time we played there she called the cops.. eventually we had to resort to an "unplugged" sort thing to make her happy.

That sounds like the Brighton Bar in Long Branch.

...by Concorde.

I don't recall taking a Concorde Jet to get to the Catskills, NJ Highlands, Appalachian Trail, Camel Back, Pochuch Mountain, Pohatcong Mountain, Waywayanda Mountain or the Kittatinny Mountains.

I can say the same about living here in Souther California, except that everything is 20 minutes away. :smug:

True.........except for Broadway. I've been to Southern California and had a great time......from what I remember...(was a long time ago and there was quite a bit of "Chemical Enhancement" involved.

You forgot , way more hot woman and no silly accent.

We don't have accents........All the rest of you's do :hiding:

Serious question from a guy who has never been: Nicest beaches on the Jersey coastline, and why?

Hard one to answer really, we have well over a hundred miles of beaches..
If you like to party, get trashed have fights, get locked up for the night, go to Seaside. If you have a family and want to go to a quiet beach and be left alone and just enjoy the day- Lavalette, PT Pleasant Beach, LBI, there are more of course. If you like Victorian era, bed & breakfasty stuff, Cape Cod-ish, then Cape May is awesome for that.

Most people here do not speak with the stereotypical accent. (read that sentence again, just to drive it home) Further, that accent, lo and behold, is actually more a New York City/North East Jersey thing. The vast majority of Jersyans sound more "Philadelphia" than "NYC".
And the women here can be SMOKING hot, trust me.

Awesome, I'll take it under advisement. I get out to the East Coast a lot, just needed a good reason to head up to Jersey this summer.

I had almost bought a house literally ON Point Mountain. That's about 50 mins from where I'm at right now.
For exercise we'll often hike up to the top of Belle Mountain, which is kind of tiny in comparison to some others but it's a mountain and it's 20 mins away from me.

That ok, I don't recall any mountains in the USA east of the Rockies.

I don't have to take a Concorde to get to the Porcupine "Mountains" ... but like everything else east of the Mississippi, they're just big hills.

I see a few posts asking why we don't leave....

Well....

I don't ever want to leave this state...I LOVE it here.

I was born in North Newark 39 years ago and now live in southern Middlesex County....

If you like the beach without boardwalks.....it's 45 minutes away...

If you like the beach with boardwalks......it 45 minutes away....

If you like the mountains......they're 45 minutes away...

If you like skiing.....it's 45 minutes away...

If you like the city's night life/Broadway musicals/etc.....it 45 minutes away...

If you're looking for a kickin' live music scene with a history of producing a tremendous amount of famous acts who got their start right here in the same kickin' live music scene.....It's all around you.

I wouldn't leave if you paid me

if you want to travel to Millville/Vineland/Mays Landing/Glassboro/etc when you live prettymuch dead center of the state, it's 150+ minutes :D

I'd say Pt Pleasant and Wildwood, and if you have to ask, you better drag yourself out to see why.

and yes, this is one of my few positive things I'm saying about Jersey. And its because few people can actually afford to live in those areas :D

I haven't been to Wildwood literally in about 10-11 years. That's STILL got to be one of the biggest/longest/widest damn beaches on the East Coast... it's like you have a 20 minute hike through 2000 degree sand just to get to the water. Boardwalks awesome though. I've had fun under that boardwalk in a younger day :)

Somerset County. Bridgewater to be specific. And yea, not all of us are selfish rich pricks like other Jerseyans try to make us out to be.

well you may not be selfish or rich but....

(JOKING!!!)

Bridgewater's alright. I like the mall there. My wife's from Hillsborough not too far from you, she says the same thing about Hillsborough as you say about Bridgewater. Trust me, Hillsborough's worse.

dude Pt Pleasant and Wildwood made my childhood, (I didn't and still don't go often tho), great looking women, plenty of stuff to do...and ironically I don't like sand. despite that, I still enjoy it.
