Ask a guy from New Jersey anything...

Go ahead, don't be shy. Whattya wanna know? I mean you see The Sopranos and The Jersey Shore, you see us NJ people posting here and think "damn those guys are awesome.." So, here I am- your own personal representative from one of the most misunderstood and much maligned states in the whole US of A. Ask me something. Anything, and I'll answer it from a NJ guy's perspective.

Dooood, you're from Robbinsville...that's like another planet.

;)

BTW, ya goin' to Bamboozle?

Is it the population density that makes assertiveness a necessary personality trait, or are you guys really just jerks?

Only a jerk would ask a question like that.

Why do Jersoids pronounce Coffee as Cwauffee?

My wife who spent the first 38 years of her life in Morris County cannot explain this along with the difficulty with the word Water, and why they cannot park squarely in a parking space.

Always wondered, and my wife is really unwilling to discuss it anymore....LMAO

Assertiveness really doesn't mean much I don't think. I mean, standing your ground for your beliefs in my view is a good example of "assertiveness". But guys that are "jerks" (I'm assuming your talking the guys that get girls here ;) ) is usually they have two things in line for themselves (and this is just from all the horror stories I hear from girls); one, they are pretty good looking. As in better than average. and two, they are only partially involved. like they'll listen, which keeps the girl around, but they'll curb the entire level of social interaction to the point its almost narcissistic because the girl stays around for it.

Hmm...I'd say a "dense population" is afflicting the country as a whole, not just NJ...

In Robbinsville, I have to deal with the soccer moms from hell...god help me..
I used to live in Ewing up until about a year and half ago, which was one of those towns where though parts of it were rough, the people were generally cool.

No Bamboozle for me this year....:( :( :(

Only the ones in, near and around NYC talk like that. They don't want to explain it because of the humiliation that they feel in the knowledge that they talk like new-yorkers... shame on you for confronting your wife about this. As penance, have her pack up at least two of your basses and ship them to me.
So that you can understand her, here is a word-list:

Caw-fee = coffee
wooter = water
doowg = dog
ooh-range = orange
boows = boss

We park funny because if you look at a map, you'll notice the unusual shape on NJ. Go ahead, take a look. Now you tell me how the hell we're supposed to park straight in a state that's all squiggly and crooked like that. We have to park weird to be able to fit all of our cars here.

Pretty much...my parents were from Philly. I was born at Exit 109 raised at Exit 105 and now live at Exit 98 but we had a lot of exposure to other regional accents around us growing up due to our very close proximity to Fort Monmouth which drew it's population from all around the country and their use of off-base housing and schooling.
