i lied my way into my first namm show (in 1988 in atlanta) by telling the folks that myself and my college buddy who was there with me were starting a music store in south georgia, we had applied for information just a few weeks earlier and that they did not arrive by the time we had to leave. the first person i talked to was in a bit of a hurry so i don't think he paid that much attention to me. he just pointed at some woman and said "talk to her and tell her that "link" said it was ok".

when i talked to her, she didn't buy my story at first, but then i said "link said it was ok" and she made us badges .

since then, i've established relationships with a few companies that were namm members who've given me badges when i've asked, so i don't have to feed the nammtards baloney to get in.
