For anyone who didn't get your 300 for $130.99 or your 305 for $180.99....contact music123 customer service.

I originally got a 300 quote for $169...I ordered because I figured they would run out (which they did). I sent a question to customer service indicating that they only took off 10% rather than honor their 123% price match guarantee.

Just got confirmation that they had adjusted my price down to $130.99!

So if you paid more than $130.99 for your 300 shipped....call or email them and have them adjust you....they guaranteed the price :)

I was ready to pay the $169.....but I had hopes that they would honor their guarantee....which they did.

They are a bit on the heavy side, but they sound great!!!:D

That speaks well for Music123!

I'm not understanding the 123% thing. Can you explain?

I'm not understanding the 123% thing. Can you explain?

Music123 has a 123% price match policy going on right now. It is usually 110%.

So here the breakdown:
Music123 ATK300: $499.99
MF ATK300: $199.99
price match difference: $300
10% of price match: $30
23% of price match: $69

Under music123's 110% policy the ATK300 would be:
$499.99 -$300 -$30 = $169.99

Under the 123% policy it is:
$499.99 a $300 -$69 = $130.99

Make sense? :)

So can someone confirm that the "attack" switch actually splits the coils vs. changing EQ presets?

Personally, I like the "bright" setting the best. Nice and StingRay-esque without too much mid scoop.

When I got my '90s ATK 305 it had a Bartolini replacement pickup installed. I replaced it with a stock ATK pickup and when I did I measured the coils and did some poking around in there.

The selector switch has a capacitor installed on the printed circuit board, and the selector switch is changing coils on the pickup. The pickup has three coils, and I believe that they are set up like a Musicman pickup, with two coils on top that sense the strings and a third coil on the bottom that does not sense the strings. This third "dummy" coil does sense the ambient electrical noise and allows the pickup to be hum-cancelling even when only one of the top coils is selected. This configuration narrows the pickup's "aperture," or the area of the string that it senses. Narrow apertures produce sounds that we traditionally associate with single-coil pickups (think Jazz Bass,) while humbuckers sense more of the string.

Attack: both top coils in parallel, no cap
Bright: top coil in parallel with bottom coil, no cap
Trad: top coil in parallel with bottom coil, with cap in parallel

The ATK has no way to combine the two top coils in series due to the way the pickup is wired internally. The Attack setting sounds most like a Stingray - the parallel sound has a bit of a mid-scoop like a 'Ray. The Trad sounds most like a P but it's not as close as the Attack / 'Ray comparison.

Have fun!

Question: Are all the pickup choices humbucking? Is there any noise at all on these things?

And why do I feel like a little kid buying my first bass? Basses.
My initial reaction when I plugged my ATK in at home, before I played it was "is the battery dead?" There is no noise from mine, at least, on any setting. The middle coil of the pickup is a phantom coil, so it cancels any hum.

and to echo some sentiments mentioned earlier... it is a damn shame none of the natural colored ATK's came up on sale. that color just looks right w/ the maple neck, black pickguard. reminds me of a sleeker T-40, which is right up my alley! i'm sure i can get by just fine w/ my black sparkle 5'er though :)

other fun things on that page... much better color choices on the ATK300, including the ATK310 (rosewood fretboard), and the newer ATK200.

Yep.

And here's a link to pretty much the same info from the US site plus a schematic....all hail Diogenes for saving this: Link Removed

Note again, that the 90's preamp is not like the current preamp. The schematic in the above link is correct.

o..o..o..I thought you meant no SOUND..like it was faulty or sutttin.

Still waiting on delivery date.
Lovin that sparkly red.
I may have gotten that on the 305 if it was offered.

HATE WAITING.:spit:

Congrats to those who got theirs already.
