It could be in part because of the ridiculously low humidity in Iowa this time of year. Maple fretboards tend to get hit with humidity changes the worst. Again, it's not really bad. I didn't notice them until I specifically thought to check.

Just let it warm up/adjust to your room temperature before you go too nuts adjusting the truss rod or tuning it. An hour or so indoors should be fine.

Yes. You let it sit for about a minute, say, "Aaaaahhhhh", then pick it up and play it. :)

Actually, didn't check where you're at, but if you're in a cold region and it's freezing outside, ya might want to let it sit for a while and unpack it slowly. My stingray arrived pretty much frozen. I took my time unpacking it. Was totally fine.

I just received my black one at my office. The neck is a little chunky but nothing unmanageable. Fairly impressed with construction. A little heavier but not by much. It came with a half way decent set up from Music123. I'll probably tweak it tonight at home.

Definitely worth the $169.00

Did your 300 require much of a truss rod adjustment? Any backbow?

confirmed.

the switch just changes between single coil, the same single coil with "high cut" for a "traditional" sound, and both coils at the same time, aka "attack".

The middle coil only doesn't produce sound, but gives a humbucker effect when you use the front single coil.

The only way to change the EQ is by turning the knobs.

Since you asked...here's my plan...

My Red Sparkle should be here tomorrow! ...oh and what do I see on my workbench....Vintage 1976 Rickenbacker Hi-gain bridge and neck pickups...and a wiring harness with Rick-o-sound? ...oh whatever would I do with such things?

I'll give the ATK 300 through the weekend stock...then it may be devoid of its bridge and electronics. I had been looking for a nice platform to put the Rick pickups in...it was going to be a Fenderbacker....but now I guess it'll be a Rickanez Stereo Bass. :)

Anyone want to try adding a second standard pickup to the 300? :)

By the way hows the A-Step-Towards Fenderbird coming along? I'm still waiting for my Fenderbird Jazz to get finished being set up after the neck swap.
