I love posts about punk bassists and isolated bass tracks. This has both.

I think that tone comes from using a pick to play in between the end of the neck and the front pickup of his 60's Jazz bass through an Acoustic 360, with the EQ running pretty much flat and with some slight drive.

As this seems to be the only thread with Klaus' name in the title, I'll do a necrobump to this. I've always wondered what kind of pickup settings he used on his blue JB back in the day. The isolated Cambodia track kinda sounds like both pickups full on. On the other hand, a lot of songs on Plastic Surgery Disasters give a neck pickup only vibe to me.

Any guesses or knowledge about this?

I’ve experimented, I suspect like most of us, he changed the setting depending on the song.
