I just pulled the pre amp out of my Deluxe Jazz and installed a 4 band in it. I left the Fender Noiseless pick up in.
It sounds great! I love it. Much more natural sounding then the Fender pre.

If you are looking for a different sound I would probably so some Nordys. I did not like the big singles with that audere pre, I swapped them for the MK5's and was much happier.

Hi - I know this post is from aaaages ago but thought I’d ask…..I have an Aguilar in my 55-01 but I'll answer anyway!
I bought Big Splits and Bark Mk5's to try and kept the Barts. Both sound phenomenal, just different. Big Splits are raw, unrestricted, big loud bright Jazz bass tone. Mk5's are fatter, smoother, 'burpier'? Basically the difference between the loudest single coil you've ever heard and a very refined humbucker.

Are you still happy with your MK5 + Audere preamp setup? I’m looking to upgrade to this combo myself.
Many thanks
