Audio Interface for Learning Songs by Ear

Hello,

I'm able to hear my bass through my headphones and listen to a track thanks to my TC Electronic RH450 head, but I do get a bit of noise from my computer. I was thinking I could solve the problem by going through an audio interface. Have you guys used audio interfaces to learn songs, or maybe there are less expensive ways to get the track and my bass into the headphones. I use and love Transcribe!, but was thinking that the audio interface software might be helpful as well for isolating the bass signal.

You could use pretty much any interface as long as it has a Computer/Direct blend. Bonus with this setup is you can record onto your computer.

OR - a small 4-channel mixer would allow you to plug in your audio source and your bass and monitor from there.

You could also use a small format mixer and avoid all the latency issues you may encounter with an interface. Plug your computer’s audio output into one mixer channel, plug your amp’s DI out into another channel. Plug your headphones into the mixer, set levels and off you go. I used a setup like this exclusively for practicing before I got into recording.
