Bug Fixes:

• Bass (BAS) version: under some conditions, blending caused the sound to get thinner.
• When selecting a legacy (pre V1.30) WaveMap after selecting a new WaveMap that has blend operational, you would hear only raw pickup rather than the legacy WaveMap.

Known Issues:

• When training, sometimes the dot on the display shows up in random places.
• With HGH or BAS firmware, switching banks causes temporary display of notch frequency.
• When sweeping the Boost knob, temporary display skips some numbers.

I really would love the feature for saving WM's to be active. Right now I have many that I really want to save and many more that I want to make. would be great to beable to have a file onthe computer with MAps and notes as to how they were made and what pickup/mic combo.

i produced a live video, where i used the Tonedexter Slot 22 to record the double bass.
I´ve put a bit of compression, equalizer and room on the track. I used a shoeps mic to train the tonedexter.
I hope you like it.



Overall i´m happy with the tonedexter. The only thing i don`t like that much, is that it`s not possible to
use the pickup sound over the amp while sending the wave map sound to the PA.
This would be great for loud recording or live situations where i prefer the pickup sound as a monitor.
I tried to split my pickup signal before the tonedexter input with an Morley ABY, but then the tonedexter does`t work anymore. Does anyone has a solution for that. Ok i could install a second pickup, but that`s not what i want.

Nice playing and sound! Very clean and organic. What pickup were you using in that clip?

I think that any DI with a parallel output would accomplish what you want. The parallel output is hard wired to the input and splits the signal as I think you are trying to do. I'm currently using a Sansamp para driver DI that has this feature, but there are other units that will do this.

Axel nice playing. That is a great example of what the TD does. When you are playing in the ensemble it blends in organically and when you step out it sounds like a bass, not a pickup.

As to your question, it doesn't make sense to me why you can't split the signal from the pickup before the tonedexter, with one line to your amp, and the other to the TD. Could there be a faulty cable or something wrong with your splitter?

This, imho however, brings out the "why" question on doing this. The beauty of the tonedexter is to have that natural mic sound coming out of your amp, while getting the feedback resistance of the pickup. You can then run a DI from the tonedexter to the PA as well with that same signal.

On another note, I bought myself a new mic (EV RE20), and used it to train a new wavemap with my Yamahiko. The tone is so good now that I've stopped using my Ischell. It just has such a nice microphone tone, with the punch and the-ability-to-cut-through-the-mix of a pickup. The best of both worlds, really.

BTW, does anyone have any suggestions of how to get more "highs"? I got quite good results with my rode nt5 playing flageolets and high notes but I still want more(I do a lot of bowing and I want it to sound "crispy" ... I was thinking of using the software for high instruments. Right now I'm using the normal version.

They typically ship with the latest firmware, but even it does not you can get it from audio sprockets website.

Since this latest upgrade, I'm finding that I'm blending in more of the pick-up with the mic sound; not because it needs more, but because I'm really liking the effect that the pick-up has on the overall sound. It seems to affect the overall sound in a subtler way; it doesn't seem to "take over" the sound as much as it used to. It doesn't cut back on the the nice rich airy lows as much, but just seems to slip in some more definition underneath them; most noticeable on the higher strings. Seems like a nice improvement!

I have actually been using it a little differently this week: I am plugging the Dex into the FX loop on my Focus. Somehow it sounds better if I have the full mic sound from the Dex mixed with the pickup plugged into the Focus. I dont know if it is a gain staging thing (although that does seem a better fit) but if I have it running thru the FX loop and use the FX knob as the blend, the mix of mic and pickup sounds just right.

Somehow it sounds better if I have the full mic sound from the Dex mixed with the pickup plugged into the Focus.

It might be great to be able to blend the full mic sound (CH0) with the pickup. Since we don´t use blending only for fighting feedback, but also to add some body to the sound, it would be great not to loose the air that CH0 delivers. Maybe something like CH1 on 12 o´clock, CH0 on 11 o`clock, blending of CH0 and pickup further counterclockwise. CH2 on 1 o`clock and blending of CH2 and pickup further clockwise.

It´s a great feature to have the pickup and the wavemap perfectly phase aligned, thank you so much James May!

The units always ship out with the latest General firmware, which right now is V1.33. We don't sell a separate SKU with Bass firmware pre-installed. Gollihur's is offering the unit with bass firmware pre-loaded.

If you don't have an SD card slot on your computer, you can buy one of the low cost USB to SD adapters, such as this one:

You or a friend might own an android phone or tablet which uses a micro SD card... and they usually come with an SD adaptor. Download to phone/tablet. Copy to microSD. Pop it in the SD adaptor. Plug into the TD..
