Great to know that the TC115 is still on track. A few weeks delay is no big whup in the big picture and I'm sure that it we'll all benefit from the design improvements.

Getting close to my delivery date. Just a few more weeks...
Can't wait, I'm hearing such good things from other Streamliner owners.
It will also be a relief, because I'm having to exercise so much restraint with my current rig. There's only so much you can ask from a pair of Beta 10A's, and the Genz has so much booty down low....

Chris, the bass player for Cool Conspiracy, came by today between road gigs to test drive some Barker Basses. He brought an SWR Workingman's 10 plus 10, Markbass 210 and a Carvin 1000 head with a custom 115 with a big ol' JBL in it. I added the ThunderChild to the backline and he wailed for a couple hours.
Please note this was hardly a stage-similar layout, but we did have the 14 x 14 overhead door open. About 25 feet out was where the TC really shone, adding clarity and definition easily discernible.
It was a fun exercise. Play some, grab a cord and unplug it and find another place to plug it in, lather, rinse, repeat.
We had a rolling conversation about the good stuff available in our corner of the world--Biltoft pickups, AudioKinesis, K&K preamps, Stellartone Tonestylers. He had not heard of the TC and was quite impressed.

OK, recent first-time AK customer here. I took delivery of a new ThunderChild from Duke just a few weeks ago, and have recently been playing through it with a new GK MB500 micro amp.
What a pleasure to play through a premium cab! Yes, it does seem to have that seamless quality between the woofer and the horn that some have claimed. And I dig the overall balance and smoothness of the frequency response - surely a hallmark of quality.
But what I especially appreciate is how much clean power the TC can handle, without farting out. Though playing at high volume kind of defeats the purpose of using a compact, portable rig such as this, in those instances when I may wish to crank the input gain, nudge up the master volume and dig in a bit, I'm fairly secure that the TC will take it without complaint, and will yield lots of clean, warm, smooth low end in return.
Definitely glad I invested in this. The MB500 and the ThunderChild will from now on be my go-to rig for small, lower-volume gigs & rehearsals throughout NYC.

Very cool! I'm still totally loving mine, and as you say, with that super duper woofer, it is a bit shocking how loud this cab can get while still sounding full and 'non compressed', even when digging in and/or slapping.
I bet that combination with the GK really sounds good, since the cab can handle the big low end that GK puts out, and also is able to 'organic up' the very aggressive top end of that head.
I'm still using my Markbass F500 with mine, mostly set flat, with a slight bump to the upper mids around 2K if I want to mimic a more typical 2 way neo cab with the traditional bump up there.
Enjoy!!!!! IMO, there really is nothing else like this on the market.
I have the "acoustic friendly" model on the way, and while it'll be a while before I get it, I plan on checking it out with the MB Fusion (as well as Markbass "F", and even a TC RH750), and expect good results.
Pardon me if this has already been discussed, but has anyone considered putting a monitor stand mount on the bottom, so it could be set atop one of those alloy tripods?

Since the big crossover takes up pretty much the entire bottom of the cab, to do that, you would have to have a surface mount system (which isn't a big deal). I believe Passinwind posted a source for a mounting piece that would work with the cab. (Edit: I also think Duke mentioned that he can do a special side mount of the crossover for those who want a heavy duty 'through the cab' mounting bracket for use with a tripod. Of course, now we are into the area of acoustical coupling, and you will obviously lose some low end unless you have the cab in a corner and getting close to the ceiling.... no free lunch).
However, you will be surprised when you get yours at how amazing the near field monitoring is. I've yet to have any issue in hearing the entire range of my bass, even when standing literally on inches in front of the cab. It is a a very special and unique box!
I plan on checking it out with the MB Fusion (as well as Markbass "F", and even a TC RH750), and expect good results.
I can attest to it working great with a GB Streamliner 900, Shuttle 9.0, and MB LMII. I'd be hard pressed to think of an amp that wouldn't sound good through a Thunderchild.
That's great news to me, as that is the exact rig I'll be playing through when my Thunderchild arrives (soon!)

Cool. Some data points...
I wouldn't want an altered design, so the external mount would be my only consideration. I also realize that means it would interfere with the stock feet, so that'd have to be figured out.
I have already considered the acoustic coupling aspects, but you can at least get some of this back by being close to a wall. That said, reading about how much low end extension this thing has, and my general lack of desire for a super huge low end, I'm thinking it'd be no biggie for me, but wouldn't know for sure until I heard it of course.
I do also remember your near field monitoring comments, which does make this a pretty low priority curiosity.
I'm thinking I'll come to the resolution that if I really want to do anything like this (raise it up and/or kick it back) I'll probably just use a small amp stand. It's just that the "monitor style" form factor of these cabs brings the idea to mind.
