Actually, I tried to do a modular system much like you describe some time ago, using the 3012LF. The problem I ran into was this: The crossover could be optimized for the single woofer situation, or the dual woofer situation, but not for both. I could not find a way to change the loudness of the horn by 6 dB without altering its frequency response curve more than I'm willing to accept. I tried several different approaches, and several different compression drivers, and wasn't happy with any of them.
...I just don't want to put an expensive cab system out there that I'm not really proud of.

I am at week eight from when I placed my order.
Fortunately there are still bass mods and tube swapping and such to keep me distracted for now.................
