AudioKinesis Cabs Part VI...

Hey Duke, Amazing job on my Hathor 1203 order. It is amazing and I will be using it on its first gig soon! It is perfect and I only wish I had three of them! However, I need to know if I can find a cover. LeCover and Tuki only mention covers for the Thunderchild series. Any idea anyone?

Either one will be happy to make you one, you'll just need to provide measurements if they don't already have them.
i know some people have tuki covers. i emailed lecover and didn't get a response.
Tuki already has the measurements for the 1203. i provided them the measurements a couple of years ago. They were supposed to list it on their website but never did. Give them a call. It was reasonably priced.

I have these 'out of the box' moments sometimes (yeah, sometimes they let me out of my box).
This time it was "what if a person had either 3 Hathor 1203's (or 2 H1203 + a TC112.8), also a head that would safely handle 2.67 ohm (or lower) and they took 2 of the H1203, set them almost back to back, one facing stage right, one facing stage left, then put the 3rd cab facing the audience in the middle on top of the 2 H1203 - so one firing left, one right, & one straight outwardly?
Duke could tell us how much space there'd need to be between the backsides of the H1203 to let the ports breathe.
If that was wider than the width of the 3rd cab, that would make the whole thing a no-go.
I'm not sure if there might be cancellations at the lower frequencies caused by the opposite firing woofers, I doubt it, but I could be wrong.
I bet @tombowlus has 2 of the H1203, don't remember if he has an 8 ohm TC112 - I'd expect a 4 ohm TC112 to sound out of balance due to getting more than a third of the wattage, but I could be wrong. Also, if the TC112 was 4 ohms, you'd definitely need a 2 ohm amp (or a 2 channel power amp or one like the Genz Benz ShuttleMax12.2).

Actually, the ultimate stage rig would be 6 hathors stack on top of eachother in groups of three. Power that sucker with 3 power amps daisy chained together. If you can survive that low end sonic assault you are good to go lol. In my case I have a 4 ohm TC112 and a 4 ohm hathor. My Eden wt 550 is on of the older ones rated for 2 ohms and I plan to stack the hathor on top of the TC and let her rip. I have an outdoor gig on the 4th where I will give this setup it's maiden voyage. Can't wait!

I'm a big fan of your designs, and I'm hoping to get one or two of your cabs soon, but I haven't decided on which ones yet, so I have a question I was hoping you could answer...

where the difference between each cab was about 3db...
Now I'm wondering how the TC118 and the Hathors 1505 and 1855 would fit in that equation volume wise...

I can't speak to comparing the models, but I can say the TC212 is capable of being stupendously fawking loud. It's a beast, and oh lawdy does it sound good.
I'm thinking about getting a Mesa Subway D800. If I do, then down the road I may be another TC112/Hathor 1203 stack fan. We'll see. Money is tight so it's not likely to happen any time soon.
Oh, I have a question too: there was some talk of badges at one point, any news on that front? I kinda hope Duke's been so busy filling orders he hasn't had a chance to do anything regarding badges yet.

Seems like the Subway might play better with my incoming RA Mouse than my current TH500, but there is no hurry, money being what it is. I'm sure I can make the Mouse sound great (well, as great as it can with me playing it) with the TH, but I really like the Subway's ability to run at 2 ohm. It seems like the controls are more intuitive/standard and it's more transparent head, as well.

I came to a similar conclusion about my TH500. I actually sold mine years ago in a time of financial crisis, but at the time was using it with my TC115 composite (I miss that cab, it was also sold at the same time) I personally didn't enjoy that pairing as much actually. The TH500 has a definite voice that the TC cabs VERY faithfully replicated and it was a little too midrangey for me. The Aguilar heads work best with Aguilar cabs IMHO, especially the GS112, although my TH500 sounded really good through my TC electronics rs212 which was my rig right up until I got the TC115. My own personal opinion is that transparent heads are better with the TC gear. For example, my current Eden rig sounds GREAT through it. But I am more than willing to try the subway 900 as I think I will end up wanting more power for outdoor stuff. I love the Eden wt550 as the eq section is SO flexible, being semi-parametric and the TC is SO responsive, that you can really shape the tone how you want. I am actually continually amazed at how much other cabs I used before colored the tone and took away from the ability to shape tone with EQ. Currently I am about clean power and AB power amps. I ended up pretty frustrated with my Tc Electronics Rh450 and later the Th 500 as I couldn't get super loud and stay clean. I don't like overdrive or breakup FORCED on me. Hence the eden gear. But the subway seems to be able to get loud and clean and then can dial in OD if you wish. Currenly I dial in OD with a TC spark booster pedal and that works really well for me when needed.
That's where I'm coming from too. I do not like amp break-up at all. Well... there is research to be done! That said, I do like a fair amount of low-mids. We shall see.
A lot of these amps simply lack headroom. The Db 751 by Aguillar certainly doesn't! I had a GK 1001 RB for a while and it sounded really great through the TC 112. It was just too much though. Talk about headroom.

And the second part of what I started this morning. I too like a healthy dose of low mids together with a lively upper mid. I've had good success with a Gallien Krueger MB 500.
I recently added a Redeemer to my beloved Barker B1. It opened up tonally with no harshness at all. Kind of like how a little mustard wakes up a toasted cheese sandwich.

Glad that worked out for you. Those guys build some pretty cool little widgets, for sure.
