Yes, the Hathor 212 will have the open mid-chamber and the smoothy/grindy switch.

Yes, three-way with a pair of 6" mids and a compression driver for the very top end. I'm going with cross-firing the mids, with is a pita to build, but I think it's the right way to do it in this case. Same big Faital woofer, the 18HP1060.

The reason for going with the bigger mids is, I want the mids to come in a bit lower, so I need a bit more power handling. Tradeoffs being what they are, the bigger mids don't go up as high, so if I want it to be a "fullrange" cab, we need a tweeter up top. The "top-end rolloff switch" will simply disconnect the tweeter, and then we'll also have our midrange smoothy/grindy switch. The 1866 will be my attempt at a cab that can pretty much switch back and forth between the Hathor vibe and the Thunderchild vibe, if desired.

Once the gigs settle down and both bands go into recording mode (hopefully soon), I'll have to evaluate my live rig a bit closer. As a band, we discussed IEMs and in one band, it's a no-go, in the other, it's a high probability. So, for me, that means keeping my AK behind me at least (and in the more active / regularly gigging / popular band, too). The question will be if the TC118 is the right one still, or if I can downsize a bit and make things a little easier on myself.

One other issue with keeping the TC118 "in production" is, that nice big horn is now unobtainium. I managed to snag a couple on their way out just in case you happen to win the lottery.

That new 1866 is going to be ridiculous. That kind of displacement (1450+ cc of air), plus two new 6" drivers and a tweeter all running through Duke's amazing crossover design...what a machine. The boys and girls in the front rows better be ready to pick themselves up and get themselves to a safe distance.

We'll probably have to talk at some point. I'd love to get a second TC118 as well. My ideal would be to have two small and two large setups.

I just thought about how ridiculous 2x TC118s would be. I think I need to go take a cold shower now.

Im glad that ive waited.. This will be the one that i need. . Just had a car repair of $1000 due to crappy raod in my town.. Once i get that done im diving for that One cab solution..

Thanks to you and Mike, we live in a time of the best bass guitar equipment in history. Your innovative and groundbreaking designs and collaboration have taken bass speaker cabinets into the 21st century finally. I have nothing but the highest regard for you both.
Not only are you the best designers and builders, IMHO, but also a couple of the nicest and most genuine people in the industry.
I can't freakin' wait to see/hear/experience a H1866!

That got my attention.
I like dual woofer cabs (& I'll have to see how the H212 turns out), but I'm pretty sure the H1866 would float my boat really well!

Duke, is there a chance you'll be trying out the the 1866's without the tweeter? I'm not a fan of "hi-fi" sounding cabs, I love the sound of my H1203's. Matter of fact I play them with the top switch off.....

Disclaimer: I'm still in my mind circling around your new 1505, word is out that it's as loud as a 410! And I don't know the weight but I know it's very transportable and small for the power it puts out. That's what I'm talkin' about!

I shot Duke an email inquiring about the H212. Here's his response:

"So far I have only built a prototype of the Hathor 212, but I can start accepting orders. It uses the same 5" mid as the Hathor 1505, plus two Kappalite 3012LF woofers. Enclosure dimensions are 34" tall x 14" wide x 14" deep counting grille pooch-outage, and weight will be in the upper 40's".

Yep, I ordered one. Now just have to wait...
