So basically, it only warns of clipping.
Earlier on, there was a place on their website that said it was stable at 2.67ohm.
You're absolutely right. My intention is to try out a number of different amps with the new cab and my two main basses. I really appreciate the input from everyone!
I have to delay my trip for a week because the D800+ is out of stock at the store where I was going. Rats....

The Forte is exceptionally smooth, IME/IMHO. Same for the B|Amp, of course.

Good to see you on here, it's been awhile. Many thanks to you for your help in my tone quest which was at least partly responsible for my discovering Duke and his magic.

Some of my "4 ohm" cabs are arguably "high 4 ohms".

Ken I was not a TB member (just a lurker) when you were active and always wanted a chance to tell you how much I liked your posts and your style. I learned a lot from you and was particularly impressed at how respectful you were of differing points of view. Thanks for all the insightful contributions!

This is the used.guitarcenter special TC112v3AF. It arrived today and I picked it up on the way home from work. GC has a new location that is 5m from my office and it's the nicest inside (because it's brand new) of any I've been to. I checked out the bass section and while there wasn't much of interest there they did have an LDS 3-way cab, looked like a 12/6/1 to me (no tag on it and it's not on their site - but I've been down that road and wanted to concentrate on the TC112).
The cab does have a couple of nicks - no biggie I'll break out the sharpie. It had all 4 port plugs and looks to be in very nice condition. It seemed well packed but the woofer grill was pushed in so before I did anything else I took the grill off (being careful of the hurricane nuts per Duke's advice) and popped it back into convex shape to give the woofer some breathing room. I also removed all port plugs and made sure all 3 switches were in the up position.
I tried it out with my L1Ks with flats, my Goldtone fretless uke, and my Trib JB2 with rounds. It sounded great with all three. It produced more low end than I'll need and was smooth and balanced throughout the range. No harsh/excess highs and amenable to eq.
It really shined for me when I plugged in the uke. I usually have to break out the Fishman preamp with it to get a sound I like but between the Forte and the TC112 it sounded great plugged straight in. I'm going to play it a lot more with this combo to amplify it.
Yeah, I broke down and snagged a Forte to go with it. I had a couple of class D micros that I could have used with it (Carvin BX500, Kustom KXB500) but I had been looking for another head this year (tried the Mesa D800, the GC Acoustics so far) and all signs were pointing to the Forte. It will let me drive the TC112 along with other cabs (my Carvin 115mbes for now, maybe another TC112 in the future) and let the sound of the bass shine through.
Duke I can see why this was the cab you recommended for me when we corresponded - it surely does make the uke sound great and has plenty of lows for my EADG or DGCF basses. I'll keep saving my pennies for #2.
I can't wait to get my Hathor 1203. When I talked to Duke he said between 8-10 weeks (i'm thinking 10 due to the holidays is probably closer to reality) this weekend will be 5 weeks. I just don't want to have to schlep large, heavy cabs around anymore especially after a long gig at 2 or 3AM.
Lots of great info here. I've learned a lot about these cabs, but have no first hand experience with them. Can anyone comment on how well the Hathor or Changeling cabs work on Reggae gigs?
They put out exactly what you put in, so I don't know why they wouldn't work for reggae. If huge, clean, punchy and articulate bass frequency in your tone is what you need, these cabs will deliver.

I'm new to AudioKinesis cabs, but would think the T (or taller) versions might be a little fuller in the bottom end due to the additional cab volume allowing for a slightly deeper tuning. At least the Changeling 112T (which I've actually played on) will offer a very full low end that is not the least bit flabby or overwhelming.
I like the way Duke's cabs render the low end. It's less of that sub-woofer style extension some cabs try for and is more of a well defined punch that seems to focus more on the first harmonic than the fundamental. We do a few Bob Marley/Reggae type pieces and I like having those lower notes with more definition and less mud. If you have a head with the EQ settings that work well for you, and some Watts to back it up, the Changeling 112T will deliver nicely IMO.
