Aurora Coated Strings

I had been using DR Black Beauties on my lakland 4401. I liked the look of the black against the natural body and the black knobs. But I was interested in trying these instead of just ordering new set of DR's. They came in and I was having the Lakland set up and dropped them off to Justin at JKennedy Guitars(he's the man) here in Cincy. I got the bass back and was thoroughly blown away by these. They are enamel coated and you barely feel the coating, unlike the BB's. They are brighter and I found the tone and balance across all 4 strings was superior. I have found the strings for that bass and maybe my pbass next. They are the same price as the DR's. So guys if you are looking for coated and something different definately check these out. They have some great colors too. As always purchased thru Jason at BSOL.

I have a blue-colored set, and while the tone is full and wide ranging, I just haven't found the bass that they go with yet.
Only issue I have is that the color is different shades from string to string. Black may not have that issue.

I think if you contacted them they would send a new set. I've spoken with their customer service and they were awewsome. Yea black is black, didn't notice anything wrong.

Thanks, I may do that, as I've considered also, some of their other strings.

Do they feel smooth like flatwounds, no zinging while sliding?

They are rounds, so there's a little zing, but much less than uncoated rounds, and they didn't feel 'sticky'. Very playable. I think the outer wrap is coated before winding, not like some others that are coated after.

They are unique I think. They really sound good on the lakland. They told me it's an enamel coating they apply to the strings.
