Avalon u5+vave drive

Can i use my ebs valve drive in front of my avalon u5 direct box?
The valve drive is a simpe bass overdrive...

That would mean:

bass-->ebs valve drive-->avalon u5-->pa/poweramp

you could put any effect between your bass and the input of the U5 and it will work fine.

AND: Can I use the avalon for recording my bass with my Ampeg SVP Preamp? The d.i out of this unit is crap

NO! NOT of the Avalon, the d.i of the svp preamp is CRAP, that's why i want to use it with my svp preamp

You should be able to take the output from the SVP and run it into the Avalon. But remember the signal will be very hot (LOUD) coming out of the SVP.

Honestly, if you don't like the sound of the SVP direct to PA, then I don't think you'll like the sound of it through the Avalon either.

If the passive tone control on the Avalon isn't engaged, it's pretty transparent.
