I got the eminence crossover installed, and we had a gig on Thursday, so had a very good chance to test it out.
My first impression as I got set up was that the tweeter is now SUPER hissy. I turn it up to about a little under half, or maybe 1/3. I had wanted post a pic of my amps eq settings to make it clear, but haven't had a chance. On my GK MB500 I have the bass and low-mid eq boosted, a slight boost - around 1oclock on treble, and seriously cut high-mids. On my Warwick Thumb I have the bass eq just above noon and treble in the center with the exception of one slap song where I boost the treble a bit.
So overall, I was very pleased. I could really hear myself, way more than ever before (even when the Avatar crossover was working just fine), and there was nice low end and some high end pop when I needed it. Actually, the high end was a bit difficult to control - say, on a song where I doing a lot stoccato octaves constantly, I was having trouble with the high note not being TOO dominant. I'll have to figure that out. As the gig wore on, I noticed that if I really dug into lower register notes, mostly on the E string, I was getting either some distortion, or the speaker was hitting the grill, or something like that. I really don't know what was happening, but I had to be gentle.
So I am pleased with this cab, but now that I've had a taste, I think I'm getting Torin's disease. I really want to build a 12/6! A true fEarful must be so ridiculously nasty.
