Avatar or Greenboy?

My friend and I are both wanting to buy new cabinets. He is saying to buy Greenboy only. I am wanting Avatar. Greenboy are very good and expensive. Avatar are also good and cost much less. I am getting two and almost three cabinets from Avatar for the same money are only one Greenboy! Ok, here is the question. What is your opinion of this? Which choice would you make and why?

I had a whole pile of crappy sounding cabs before I built some fEarfuls.

If you are even marginally handy with tools, you can build a 12/6. My go to cab is a fEarful 12/6 cube with the inexpensive Alpha 6 mid driver. I pulled it together for under $300.

And hey, look, you got the design free from Greenboy. Thrown in for free!

While you are at it, build a pair using the buddy system. Remember, don't drink and table saw.

While I am sure, based on personal listening and reading many glowing reviews that Mr. Green's designs are quite excellent, my budget has limited me to Avatar gear.
It fit said budget, has received many positive comments from audience and band members, and their customer service is great.

I will stick with my Avatar cab until I have more loose cash, and then I will revisit the subject. At that point, I will probably try cabs from more than 2 companies.

Ah!! No, I think getting a pro to build it would be for the best.

I suck royally at any sort of woodworking.

I totally failed at woodshop. Of course, that was almost 40 years ago!!

TB153 is a type of "Nearful", that uses a less efficient box, cheaper x-over and mid. It can still blow your socks off, and you can get it delivered already built in your choice of tolex and grill cloth. I went with the 153. It's a bit heavier, but it's better than any 410 I've ever played. The other avatar offerings are cool to. The neo 410 can take an insane amount of power. That three way "hi-if" design is better for me tho. I can't say much about the true fearfuls other than they are the real deal.

In the OP it was presented as a choice. If the fEARful or FEARless is out of the OP's price range, then it maybe shouldn't be presented as a choice. I don't have a fEARful. I have played through a FEARless stack and it was glorious. The gear I have now fits my needs, but I would be going with one of Greenboy's designs if I were looking for new gear and had the budget. No Avatar hate intended. As a choice between the two, I posted what my choice would be and why.

Yes! All of this is good advice. I need to decide what to do. And your opinions help me. I have not played through any other amp or speak than my Carvin. So I must learn from you who have done. Also, Ritchie wants a F115 in yellow like a peanut m&m!

One thing the OP doesn't say is if the configuration of the cabinets is the same. I doubt that it is so we're not really comparing apples to apples.
The Avatar cabs are good. The Greenboy cabs are great. To me it's like the difference between listening to an MP3 and a WAV file. ( If that makes any sense). Some people cannot really tell any difference, so for them the MP3 is fine. Also if you don't like the Greenboy it will be easy to sell. You will probably take a little bigger hit if you were to sell the Avatar.

Good point. He is after a pair of the B212s or a B115 and B212..... I am going for the Fearless F115. Possibly a pair of them eventually.

I am using a Tech21 RBI and a Crown XLS 1500 amp. He will be using either an RBI or RPM and a Peavey IPR2 2000.

I am making him sell the Carvin. It's old, ugly, and smells funny.

Sorta on topic here. I installed 4" rubber casters on my TB153. When lifting it into/outta my hatchback it's heavier than my NX2 or two TC-E RS210's. Once I placed the TB153 on the ground I can roll it around with two fingers. At times I have to place a small piece of something at one of the wheels to keep it from rolling off while on some slanted stages, concrete areas, etc. The casters made me put this cab back up as one of my two fave cabs to gig with now.

Just gigged it twice that past weekend. Usually use a GB Streamliner 900, recently bought a Ampeg PF800 that sounds real nice with it. At times, I'll use my Crown XLS1500 amp with BBE BMax pre or now gone Alembic F1-X. And always with 5 string modern/passive basses. This cab can handle a lot. Mine is 4 ohms.
I had ceramic Avatar 210/212 cabs years back. Nice enough tone, heavy-ish cabs for me.
