Avatar Owner's Club - part 3

I want to go Avatar and I'm thinking B410 Neo. Playing mostly hard rock and up against two guitar half stacks and I was thinking of using a 4 Ohm cab with a Hartke LH1000 and Tech21 Paradriver for color (if needed).
Just picked this bad boy up today from GC. A 410 neo!! I was only going in to try out one of those short scale Jag basses, but saw this was steal at only $200. I was actually looking to buy a 210 neo from the site soon, so I'm glad I went to GC today!!!
Nice snag! I'm in Denver, but even here, I don't think I've ever seen a deal like that at my local GC's.

Man I gotta get me another Avvie 2x10 to match the blonde I already have. I have a matching B212, but stacking a pair of B210's vertically would be a bit easier on the stage footprint for my current gigs... One is a 14-piece urban gospel group (10 vocalists!) and the other is an 11-piece funk band with a horn section, space gets can get pretty tight with both. Kinda jealous of you vertical 2x10 cats.

Yeah, me either. I'm pretty sure either they didn't know what they had or one of the employees dropped the price in hopes of getting the deal himself. The guy who sold it to me seemed genuinely pissed off that I was buying it...even tried talking me into something else.

Thanks brother. I'll be honest I was on the fence about getting both cabs with blonde tolex and the oxblood grill, and after seeing your setup I'm wishing I would have gone that way. I love the 210 setup. Takes up less real estate on a crowded stage but still has enough booty to play most of the gigs I do without PA support. As an extra plus it is nice being able to throw my bass and amp cases over my shoulder and take a cab in each hand and hit the road after a gig.
My current rig is all 10" Delta Eminence drivers (non-neo heavy mags). 210 on top, 410 on bottom. I am using a Peavey PROBASS 500 which is 2 ohm stable - 500 watt. I purchased the amp and 210 together for a great deal on Craigslist. The 210 is 8 ohm. I already had the 410 (4 ohm) for about a year and a half. So linked together I am getting about 450 watt at 2.67 ohm. I would love to score a deal on a 4 ohm 210 delta so I am getting more volume out of the 210 when played as a single.
Save your money, you won't be able to tell a difference in 50W. You need to double your power (1000w) to get 6db (two noticable increases) in volume change.
Thank your clearing that up. For the full stack I wouldn't get much from the 50 watt increase volume wise, maybe more from the 150 watt increase when going from 8 to 4 ohm. All in all if I am clipping the amp in any situation and lacking the volume then I need to look for a new amp. But for now it's working fine.

I'm looking to buy a completely new rig and I've been leaning towards an Avatar B210 Neo paired with an Avatar SB112 (undecided on ceramic or neo), does any one have any opinions/experience with this pairing? Probably looking at a Little Mark III or Markbass F1 or something like that to sit on top of it if that helps

Congrats. I 'stole' another B212 from GC's used inventory for $149. It appeared to be in great condition and after cleaned up it looked new. GC has some killer deals sometimes.
Man, I wish the Guitar Centers around here had deals like that, but the ones in my neighborhood just... Suck. The Colorado Blvd store is decent I guess, but they never have anything in stock that I'm after. I just had to special order a Polytune Mini, of all things. I avoid the Park Meadows store like the plague. The people that run it are... Not nice... And the bass room is horribly maintained, even by GC standards.
In other news... I've been contemplating parting with my B212 Neo to get another B210 Neo so I can stack them vertically. Slightly smaller stage footprint while getting my rig slightly taller.

Anyone know if they'll ship just a custom grill? Thinking I would like a custom piping/cloth update to my B210 neo, but I'm on the opposite side of the country.

Talked with someone on the phone, and Dave confirmed it via email just a while ago (great response time!). They won't ship custom grills after the initial purchase because a) it's already a labor-intensive endeavor, and they can't ensure an exact fit without the cab being physically there and b) the times they have tried this in the past, every one of them has been broken in transit by the shipping company.
I may try making something myself, but it's not a big deal. Not enough to sell it and buy another cab, anyway. It already looks plenty cool and obviously sounds awesome.

Dang! I was actually thinking about doing this myself...The metal grate is gaudy and heavy. Bummer they won't do it, but I understand why.
