Looks like a good choice. I finally got to play it for the first time yesterday. I made a vertical stack with my b210 and my warwick 211 pro. It sounded pretty badass IMO. After hearing that I think I am sold on the 410 extension based on how well that sounded.

I got mine at a local Music Go Round as well. Hopefully they will get a 410 4ohm cab in soon so I can save a few pennies. Otherwise it might be a little while til I can come up with the $650 to complete the rig. Im a stickler for matching cabs so I'll probably have to go for another rat fur one.:(

I just added a B210 4 ohm to my B212 4 ohm. I'm using a Carvin B800 that develops 500 watts at 4 Ohms and 800 watts at 2 ohms.

I was underwhelmed with the B212 by itself,......with the 210 added, I finally have the punch I've been looking for. I may have to grab a 410 if one comes up on Craigslist.

Also have a Carvin B1500 head,...but not using it until I get more cabinet to handle the power. (It develops 1900 watts at 2 Ohms.)

Do Not turn the tweeter all the way off!! I may cause the l-pad and crossover to burn out!.....that unused power turns into heat!! You should turn the tweeter down about 3/4 and/or tape over the tweeter it with gaffers tape etc. I have 2 B410 Neos Love 'em powered by Carvin DCM2000L...whats that smell??? Dammit!

What you say is true because Avatar insists on using 15Watt L-Pads that can have as much as 25 or 30 watts across them depending on the wattage level used at that time. I handled it with a 50watt L-Pad or you could just put a Power switch between the cap and the L-Pad to turn it off.

The other day I got a chance to listen to a Avatar B212 with the Delta 12LF speakers in it, and I loved the sound of it. I was thinking of building a clone of one of these, but I don't have any information on the tweeter / crossover that's built into it. I can model the box and Delta 12LF's fine, but does anyone know what tweeter / crossover Avatar uses in these?

I found a SWR Workingman 2x12 (a little rare, only made a few years) which was a 250W 8ohm. I installed delta 12LFs (like in my Avatar 112SB that I love), a Foster horn, and ordered a crossover/input plate from Dave at Avatar. Kick ass 1000W 4ohm 2x12! This is basically what you are describing. Most 2x12 cabs have the same size and features, it's the speakers that really bring it to life.

Former owner of a 410 NEO and B212, current owner of a 210 NEO. I didn't care for the (older) 212, not enough punch, too "pillowy" if you will. My 410 Neo kicked all kinds of booty, but I downsized when we had kids a couple years ago. I have been using the 210 for the last couple years with a LMII, and its a GREAT combination. Just need a little bass bump (1 oclock versus noon) and it sounds almost as good as the larger cab.

May need to order another 410 one of these days, but I also have an 3015LF loaded Peavey cab I can add to the 210 for super booty.

It's a Foster horn tweeter...you can probably get them on eBay. Dave shows a photo of his crossover in the bass cabinets section of http:Avatar Speakers.

If I was building a 2x12 like that, I'd probably use a midrange rather than a tweeter... At least one thread on TalkBass about adding a midrange to an Avatar cabinet.

Did you do this recently? That would be a perfect solution. Then I wouldn't have to cobble together all the parts to build the input plate / crossover.

If I was building a 2x12 like that, I'd probably use a midrange rather than a tweeter... At least one thread on TalkBass about adding a midrange to an Avatar cabinet.

Yeah, the thing was that I what I heard was perfect to my ears, so I guess why change that. I read the midrange discussion, and it may seem like a more "perfect" design, but I just really liked what I heard and would like to duplicate it.

I'll see what Dave says at Avatar. The website doesn't list any individual components for sale.

I put it together this last spring, and it has been my #1 cab for bigger gigs, my Avatar SB112 for smaller ones. The Foster horn complements the 12s nicely, I think they are tinny with 10s, the 12s have more warmth. Just email Dave and he'll give you a cost, let him know if your building a 4ohm (2x8ohm) or 8ohm (2x16ohm) to get the right xover. The Delta12LF is available in either configuration.

At one point I asked Dave about turning the tweeter all the way off and he also strongly advised against doing it. He suggested that if you don't want to use the tweeter, you take the back connector panel off and take the inputs directly to the woofer, bypassing the crossover/tweeter altogether.

I use an 8 ohm B210 with an 8 ohm SB112 (all Neos) with my GK 400RB or a Traynor YBA200-2 and the effect is *very* sweet. Thinking of swapping out the Neo in the 112 for a Delta though to get a bit more power handling in the 12.
