I believe you can, at least everywhere you have access to a PA. Monitor yourself with a PU and a bass amp (even if it doesn't sound right to you), send the mic to the PA system and turn down any other offers from the soundman. If you are reasonably far away from the monitors intended for your band mates and if you place your own amp correctly, you should be fine.
So what then, you've got a folder on members you don't like. That's no secret if a member has been around here for any length of time. You do seem to enjoy pulling punches like this given any opportunity

I think you have proven my point! I respectfully disagreed with your point of view and you have characterized my post along the lines of those you perceive as being made with a "clenched fist."
"Pulling punches like this?" No punch was pulled. (Perhaps you misunderstand the meaning of that idiom.) I stated my point of view that I just don't see TB the way you do. My assessment was and is that your view is negative and uncharitable. No punch pulled there, PC.
A folder on members I don't like? Wow. No, I simply am able to remember older threads. Continuing not to pull any punches, this is typical of your reaction to discourse when points of view are expressed that disagree with your own. It's not a conspiracy; it's not some unwillingness to listen. It's simply a different point of view and/or assessment.
Les, I truly love the "ignore" function on TBDB. (Rhetorical question) Why waste time talking with people who, for one reason or another, do not want to have have a pleasant conversation, typically appear to have a perpetual chip on their shoulder and/or just have an overwhelming desire to snipe at others because it possibly makes them feel better about themselves?
There are many talented, smart, funny & wonderful guys who contribute so much to this forum. I have learned so many things that I didn't previously know and I'm pleased to be a part of this motley crew. I choose to spend my TBDB time with these kinds of people as well as others who join this site with open hearts and similar gifts to share.

I doubt that what we are hearing in his solo spot here has anything to do with the amp or pu.. Sounds more like the mic stuffed under the bridge, slammed right up on the belly.
Besides, there's nothing odd about using an amp like that when for most of the set you are competing for sonic space with the rest of the band.

OK Hugh, if you take the time to read through the thread, you'll find that all bets were off here when *somebody* tailgated on Avaishi's well earned fame factor to point to his feeling that some one else's work was more to his liking.

I'm a dedicated amateur and not a pro. I don't claim great expertise with regard to technique and musical mastery. That's why you'll hardly ever find me expressing opinions in the forums that deal with those topics. If I did, then it would make sense to post clips of my playing so that people could judge the worth of my opinions based on my offer of "proof of expertise." I don't claim expertise in those areas and there simply is no proof of such. In those forums, I'm one of the ones soaking up information from players whose talents are well beyond mine. I generally lurk but don't post, other than to ask a question.
PW, you don't express detailed opinions or offer guidance about Amps, pickups, etc. So, I don't ask for your "proof of expertise" in acoustics, sound reinforcement, etc. Same deal.
I believe I know a fair amount about the instrument itself and even more about acoustics and amplification. Forums that deal with those topics are where I express my opinions and I'm happy to supply "proof of expertise" (whatever form that would take) in those arenas. Interestingly, teachers I've had who are very highly accomplished players have actually sought and taken my advice with regard to tweaks to their instruments and ways to get a better amplified sound. My inability to play as well as them didn't stop them (and certainly shouldn't have stopped them) from seeking and capitalizing on the knowledge I have. That's the knowledge that I try to share here. That's where my expertise lies.
I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be impressed with my playing.
It ain't about my playing here Paul, I'm well aware of my limits, and I don't really care so much you think...btw I witnessed you a few times up close in the early '80's (you didn't know that.) You are a really fine player, but I think you know your limits too, and that's probably why you are where you are at now. On TB.

Going back to the initial question, I checked his stage rider (Just google it) and apparently he uses Schoeps CCM4V Compact cardiod. This is according to his 2011 Stage rider so it may have changed sinde then... A bit pricey for my pockets but it sounds really good for him.
