Avoiding Swamp... errr... Sweaty Buttocks

...or whatever Bootsy's guitarist is wearing here

Whatever you do, don't wear shorts or a kilt. Godot forbid you should be able to play comfortable lest the TB-Pants-Police-Brigade track you down and revoke your license to play bass.

There's gotta be a Bedouin solution than heat-trapping trousers...

No need to robe yourself of the opportunity to be comfortable and still Sheik Yerbouti...

Oh, and don't wear cotton briefs, they just soak up all that sweat, chafe and make things uncomfy and potentially put some fungal in your jungle. I would recommend “moisture-wicking” synthetics — boxer briefs, as loose boxers or tight-fitting underwear tend to bunch up and chafe in some fairly uncomfortable spots.

A nylon/spandex wicking blend will help keep you dry, and wont ride up nor fall down while you're doing your Flea impression on stage.

And wear black... it tends to hide the sweat-stain better.

Bo,
We're in the same town and I had an outdoor party gig last night on a roof. Blazing sun during set-up w/nowhere to hide. Brutal.

I have an over 90 degree rule for gigs- T.S. baby, I'm wearing shorts and IDGAF. Don't jump around too much and drink plenty of H2O.

The term going commando originated in the Viet Nam war. The standard issue underwear was cotton, in the intense heat and humidity of the area it caused intense chafing and discomfort. Soldiers quickly figured out that it's much more comfortable without them.

So that's what I would do. Also maybe some of that monkey butt powder.
