Godin builds a great instrument. I have an early version LG guitar. Schaller factory hardware & Tetrad pickups , mahogany body. Kinda cross of a Les Paul , Strat & Tele.

For me, the fretted version would be tempting. On the other hand, I used to have the combination of magnetic and acoustic pick-ups on my Eko Chetro, until I recently restored the non-magnetic tape-wound strings.

I used a Dean Markley Artist Transducer acoustic stick-on piëzo pick-up and some Schaller magnetic sound-hole pick-up (for western guitars). And Ernie Ball 2802 flat-wound strings. I played it on somebody's professional demo. (My personal peak in music.)

Today, I could mount the Schaller on the one acoustic bass that still has steel strings (and a piëzo bridge pick-up). Or I could use a clamp-on piëzo pick-up on a solid-body: clamped on the headstock!

(By now, you all know that I'm into features more than in quality.) ;-)

Oh, the delight of the find, the disappointment of the received...
The item received is, in fact, a Godin A4 Ultra, but the piezos are NOT RMC (apparently some special LR Baggs which quack with the best of them), NO Synth Access and NO ebony fingerboard (Feels like ebonite, richlite or similar)

I have a Godin six string, so I have heard the 'magic' of the RMC pickups. I was expecting the same of this bass, but it is not there... The Lace Sensor sounds excellent for a more 'electric' character.

Some people say to be happy with what you have, instead of lamenting what you don't... The synth access would have given me insane flexibility with my (old) V-Bass. Playing the synth voices with a fretless seems so natural.

At this point, I don't know if I will keep it. 30-day return policy and all that.
