AZ gtg anyone?

Chasers in Scottsdale/ Tempe its a dive Bar, they have a stage, and I have witnessed public rehearsals there. If they sold only 6 beers more than a normal night im sure they'd be happy. Im sure I could arrange that, other wise Band Oasis rehearsal studio's I am familiar with the owner.

I can bug Jason at Chasers about this, I have played in that club almost as much as my house. Not sure if I should brag about that.

What's the typical format for these type of things? I can also bring a few basses/amps that may be considered TB famous/not that common to see in person(Nothing boutique but Ibanez ATK 305, Carvin Combo, etc.). I haven't been to Chasers but I'm picturing the massive quantities of amps(from manufacturers and members) and people that will be there, do we need to be looking at any other types of venues? A hall/VFW, Amplitheater, Library, etc? Town Square??? I'm down for Chasers but the description of a dive bar almost makes me think it's going to be too small.

I have never been to one of these nor have I ever been involved in organizing one, but if we have the "show and tell" portion of the GTG at FMIC Headquarters, then we'd only have to have a few amps and a small P.A. as a backline for the "Jam" afterwords. So it wouldn't have to be a huge venue. Maybe Genz and JHawkCustoms can backline the event with a couple of cabs and amps.

Eventually someone will have to take the bull by the horns and organize this sucker.

Just thinking out loud.

Chasers is a little on the small side. Were it not a bit of an island, Joe's Grotto would be a good choice, for sound, lighting and venue quality. I know the booking and ownership there as good acquaintances, but not sure that would be a good spot. (32nd St and Thunderbird, right off the 51)

Chasers is also kinda dark. I wish I had the time to help organize, but I am still getting settled into a new house. (But to say hi to my new neighbors, we could do it there hee hee hee hee... ok, that may not be the best first impression.)

Yeah, Joe's would be good although it is a little off the map. It'll still be hot in AZ mid September(but we're all used to it right??) But I know downtown Glendale has an Amplitheater and you can rent the stage/PA. That may be too big/public/less intimate though for all us bass players(it would attract a lot of outside attention). My other idea would be the VFW on Indian School and 48th St. Well lit, big hall/PA, bar, more private; Very good for social gatherings. It all just depends on how much attention/people we can end up drawing out to this. VFW would be the next step IMO if the turnout would be bigger than Joe's.

Lets not do this outside guys. Please. :)

Chasers is just a place I know Fender has had Jam nights, so I figured it would be easy. I do not know many venue's around here. Chasers isn't that small for floor space, it is kinda dark though. Joe's Garage could be just as cool. Thinking about it logistics for a jam might be better suited after the GTG.

Hello all, OP here.
I am pretty much a budget shopper, and as such have pretty much budget gear. Nothing fancy to bring to the party. Sorry.

Was involved in a regular GTG back East with some peeps from a different forum, always pretty cool. Thought I'd float it here. Last I looked at this thread there were three of us, look what it's become. Nice. I would attempt to lead on this but am fairly recently returned to the area and don't really have contacts here. Our GTGs were at GC or a willing store or factory, followed by a nearby restaurant, or the home of a willing participant.

I am on the far West side, so would of course prefer someplace close to a freeway, if possible. (Not afraid of a drive though, I recently drove a 75 mile round trip for a cheaply priced pickguard. Believe it.) Joe's Grotto would be more in my zone, as would either Sam Ash or GC.

Not familiar with Chasers, though, as my bar gig days out here were long ago. I know there is a bar not far from me that has a Sunday jam session/open mic, but I know nothing more on that. Willing to find out, though...
Also, I will have to check my availability for 9.16.
Would this likely be an afternoon thing or an evening thing?

Thanks Gary, yeah, I'm in. I think there are a few other non TB bass players we could probably get up there from Tucson also.

Cheers.

Definitely up for it. With schlepping bass rig and basses, I may drive myself, but may have room for a passenger. I don't have a large vehicle. Good enough for me and my gear to gigs typically.

Are we still targeting a Sunday so most bass players, gigging and otherwise can make it?
