B.B. King Heckled At Performance.

yeah,ya kinda did....

I absolutely did not. I responded to a post - very clearly quoted - which read "I don't get why (perhaps other than ego) he needs to book $100 venues."

I then - very obviously - explained how bookings actually occur, and with few exceptions that's done by promoters, not the artist or artist's management, and venues are with few exceptions based on past results.

It's amazing how much trolling goes on this site, and how little "musicians" know about the music business.

It's also amazing how many people are committing the crime of theft against their employer, day in and day out by posting from work, while griping about someone else not doing their job and being a rip-off artist.

well you were certainly willing to jump down my throat and get personal after i merely posed the question...what i know about the biz and people getting ripped at concerts are hardly the same .....and my boss is me,so um....

If you want to see an all singing all dancing show, then don't go to see an 88 year old man, and then get upset when he ain't doing back flips!

I don't think anyone expects BB to dance or do back flips! I do however think that people have a reasonable expectation to hear a musician play music for most of the show with a bit of talking thrown in to engage the audience.
Should they heckle him? Absolutely not!
Should they contact the venue or artist management and express their disapproval? Absolutely!

My apologies if it seems that way. Words being taken out of context and assigned negative meaning without reasonable cause is a major irritant for me, so I did not perceive it as a sincere question but rather a snark.

My own snark about time theft was not directed at you specifically, rather against whomever that shoe fits which I would bet is 90%+ of participants on this site, including virtually all of those complaining about King.

Please don't read that as a defense of King. As I wrote earlier in the thread, I'm all for decrying a fraud. ALL frauds.

I for one would relish the opportunity to see a living legend that changed the history of music! I would rather pay to watch BB King talk, than pay to watch a "show" from most of todays current pop bands!

Would you mind pointing out who in this thread expected BB King to dance and do back flips? I must have missed those posts.

i could have been a tad snarky....i've done it before....but i usually am a lot worse if i do it intentionally....

Alright, kumbaya! I wish more had your passion for quality music.

Riffing on my hypocrisy theme, I wonder how many (very justifiably) decrying King support "their" local pro sports team no matter what?

I don't see a disinterested unprofessional performance during just another game during an interminable nearly meaningless regular season as any different than a disinterested unprofessional performance during just another stop during an interminable nearly meaningless tour.

Money is way too important to way too many people.

So what, you get screwed on the price of a ticket? Laugh it off! :hyper:

Remember, you can't take the moral high ground and worship money at the same time. It makes you look,...

Money, time, embarrassment if you brought guests or convinced others to attend, betrayal if you're a long time fan, outrage at being mocked to your face by a guy flirting with girls rather than respecting your patronage.

Do that in some circles and you'd call yourself very lucky to just get heckled. That's one valid perspective.

aside from my pathological love of the cowboys,no.i won't tolerate any of that....

I saw BB in the late 90s. He sat, but he was still great.

I've avoided seeing Willie Nelson for this reason. His music is far too dear to me to see him in a diminished state. To me he'll always be the Red Headed Stranger, even if that no longer exists. That's what we mean when we say "Recording Artist."

I saw Dave Brubeck when he was 89. He took his time walking to the piano, but he was awesome once he sat down at the keyboard. He and his quartet put on a fantastic show and did not diappoint; everything was right on. That was about 2 years before he passed away. The guy had heart surgery when he was like 90 and within about a month he was back at the piano. Some people are just born to rip until their last day, some aren't so lucky.

Sorry, but most of you on this thread ain't even the beginning of a pimple on the "Late Great" Robert Johnson's ass! to borrow a quote from Crossroads.

Just substitute B.B. King's name for the late great RJ, and you get it.

I don't think I've ever been so disgusted by a thread in the entire time I've posted here.

Please go draw $200 out of your bank account and let me grab it out of your wallet. Remember, if you object, it means you worship money and you can't take the moral high ground.;)

Mellow, you're a good dude, but you're way off here. Tone down the rage and try to see the points people are making. Ain't nobody saying they would heckle the man.

I am not going to heckle anyone on stage. I don't really enjoy mean people.

I do want to add that there is a chance that a lot of people who have posted in this thread haven't seen BB King in the last few years. I am one that did. He really, really is "that bad". No kidding. If you haven't seen him lately, it really is hard to imagine just how bad he is. Hardly any music is played, and I have no idea what he's talking about. Just a lot of rambling on about nothing. It is sad. It's like someone who doesn't know that they're done.

Why I Sing the Blues is my favorite BB song. He was great. Just not any more.
