BA210 v2 - castors or cart?

In just have a board with carpet and castors. The BA with stuff on to just rolls in. I usually run it vertically, not as a wedge so most of the time the amp just stays on the castor board.

Just get this and call it a day. Weighs next to nothing and folds flat. I've been using one for years.

I have the same thing, but mine is from Harbor Freight. They are cheap, take up very little space and work great. I would suggest using a strap or bungie cord if going up or down steps.

I vote for the cart. There are times when you're going to have no choice but carry the amp (up stairs, over grass etc etc) and putting four casters on the amp is only going to make it even heavier.

That cart does look handy and 25 bucks is a pretty reasonable price, as long as it doesn't wear out too quickly.

I've had a Magna Cart for probably 6 or 7 years now and use it regularly and it's still good.

This. There are several brands of the same design. Mine is branded MagnaCart and looks almost identical.

I have both, and the Milwaukee is substantially stronger than the equivalent MagnaCart at 2/3 the price. Another advantage is that you can get them anywhere, since both Lowes and Home Despot carry them.

Cart. You can use it with any of your cabinets, not just one.

I have back issues too. I use lightweight cabs and a Magna Cart and that does the trick. Good luck and happy bass playing.

Most people in north america call them beavers, hence the confusion between castors and casters.

I just looked it up, the beaver is the official animal of Canada. Seems that all beavers are cute and have two legs and two arms. These days, beaver pelts don't seem to be as desirable.

I like castors, they're nature's hydrological engineers. They spend a good part of their day overbuilding things.

As a previous owner of the BA-210v2, I understand your plight. You're right, it's not that the combo is that heavy, but because of the shape it's cumbersome. What I would have liked Ampeg to do was install a couple of side handled instead of the single strap on top. The cart makes it a moot point.

Exactly! It only took me lugging it to and from a couple of practices to realize the one strap wasn't going to cut it. A couple of straps would make things much easier when you're getting it in and out of the car.

Yes, I'm loving the tone I'm getting out of this thing! I know better gear doesn't necessarily make you play better, but I can't help thinking I'm playing better since I sound so much better. The other guys in my band all commented on the tone at the first practice I brought it to. It also makes me want to play more, which will definitely lead to more skill in the long run.

Its about options, I have a legit bad back, several herniated discs and spinal stenosis...this thing lets you move your gear whatever way is most comfy depending on how your back feels at that particular instant.

Cart. Casters introduce holes to your cab you don't need, and can introduce odd noises on stage from rattling caster locks and that sort of thing that are simply unacceptable, at least to me...

That folding cart in the first reply is inexpensive, folds down to smaller than a brief case, and weighs next to nothing. WELL worth the few bucks they ask for them...

My vote is for the cart. with a small platform. If you do get one of the recommended hand trucks, get one of these. My cabs have to be bungeed on because the lip on the hand trucks are always too short. Here ya go:

By the way, TB'ers. have any of you been able to verify that this is a piece of doo doo or not? I know a lot of us have to go up stairs sometimes.

I do not like it just from the design of the front plate being elevated is not practical for speaker cab use, can be fine for boxes of documents. The Magna Cart easily does street curbs and stairs, no gimmick needed, just a bungee cord.

Also with the cart you can pile extra stuff on top of your cab, like stands and such. just make sure to strap it down. I use a large Velcro like strap similar to a cable wrap for the music stand.

Good point Mr. @S-Bigbottom . I have a problem with two different folding trucks I got. The handles on both of them are too short and they had very cheap bungee cords. Guess I need to get quality cords. Come to think of it, I could even get a handle extension from Amazon....

Mind you, the Magna Cart retails for about $30.00, but if you need to haul up stairs / carry a bigger load you might give serious consideration to a Rock N Roller RockNRoller Multi-Cart transformable utility carts - Home

They aren't cheap, but if you need to haul it all at once, up the stairs, or across a field to get to the stage, then it's priceless.

FWIW, the Magna Cart is the one my guitarist uses. He hauls his strat copy, his 60 watt 1x12 combo, a small pedalboard, and his share of the lighting / sound rig on it with no trouble at all. Just bungee up and go! I've used it, with bungees to carry my Rumble 500 combo + Rumble 210 cab, and pedalboard (bass and spares on my back).
