Bacchus, Show 'em if you've got 'em!

I read a while back that the "Universe" series, is a budget line that is made in Korea or elsewhere. They sell for quite a bit less than the Made in Japan Bacchus'. They look nice for the price. Probably their version of the "Metro/Skyline" type line. :)

MIJ Bacchus basses seem to start just under $1000 U.S.D. new.

The Japan made Bacchus basses are outstanding!

Someone else in the U.S. must have a Bacchus! It would be hard to believe I have the only one in the States. :)

Lol! I think it looks alright - it ceratainly does its job though. this is a working bass and this mute works very well indeed. Completely reversable installation though ;0)

savit260, I remember talking to someone with a 5 string jazz at one point. have a look at threads about Ishibashi and you will come accross them.

I want to see some more!! It seems like a pretty elusive little club!

My MIJ Bacchus (Woodline-J Classic) smokes the hell out of my old MIA Fender. The fretwork is better, the components are nicer, and the electronics are wired immaculately, not like my old Fender which had bad solder joints and wood dust and crap all throughout the cavity.

They also use higher quality woods, which is definitely apparent with the Rosewood fretboard, check out how dark mine is from the pictures, and no it's not dye.

It also has some nice little touches which you don't get with Fender, downsized body, bone nut, and an extra fret to get that high E.

Really solid bass, and mine ran me $920 USD plus shipping. I definitely see a Woodline-P Classic in my future!

That's one helluva rig!! I'm diggin my LMII/Aguilar cab. I need to spend some time on the Japanese sites and figure out what Bacchus I wanted. I actually bought a P bass a while back on Ebay and the seller had some kind of problem and ended up refunding my payment :hmm:

I think you may be thinking of Doctor J. I think he has 2 J five strings. He's from Ireland.



P.S. I like that string mute! Pretty cool.

I owned a Skyline Joe Osborne a while ago, and while that was a great bass, the quality of the Bacchus is still higher, and I just found out that the Japanese Bacchus models are all hand-crafted, no CNC at all. For the price that's truly astounding.

Thats the guy!! Cheers. Unfortunately we in the UK have to pay 17.5% tax on imports but I still paid only £700 for mine second hand. As others have said, the attention to detail and craftsmanship is second to none. Th einlays on mine are perfect, the woods are all stunning and the whole package feels just right. Needmoney, do you have any interesting reading about Bacchus, all I can seem to find is the deviser site and U-box. I want to find out as much as I can about them!

Keep your eyes peeled on this site. They pop up now and again.. there is a lovely trans red five string there at the moment. All these basses are 'used' but judging by mine, it is in brand new condition apart from a little buckle blemish. Fitted gard case, case candy etc.. good stuff.

Whoops, sorry guys, haven't been on here in a while. Anyway, here are the twins

I love these two. They slay anything else I've played. The top one is a 02 Standard 5 and the bottom one is a Venus 5. The Standard has the tone, any style of music, any sound you need, it's in there and it's all good. The Venus, purchased via the talkbass ads btw, has a nastier, dirty tone, which is very, very nice indeed. It's a slab body so it's not the comfiest to play, but when you plug it in... maaaaaaaaan :D Before I got a Bacchus I had ordered a custom Hotwire, what I though would be my dream bass and while it was being built, I saw the Standard going cheap. Well, I pulled the trigger and was just completely bowled over by it. When the Hotwire arrived, yeah it was nice, but compared to the Bacchus, there is no contest. Ruined my custom dream bass ha ha ha ha :p

What I always say about Bacchus is that they sound better than they look... and I love how they look ;)

tthor, that bass is an absolute beaut, congrats :cool: and savit260, I still dream about that old school P, I can only imagine how fat that thing sounds :)
