Bacchus, Show 'em if you've got 'em!

May I ask where you're getting it from? I'm fed up waiting for one to appear on the u-box :ninja:

Japan Vintage Guitars (www.japanvintageguitars.com)! Australia's new Bacchus dealer! I'm so glad I can get them interstate now, it's a lot easier than dealing with customs rubbish!

I got my last Bacchus from www.guitarjapan.com. Granted the prices are a tad more expensive than Musicland Key, Ishi, Ikebe, etc, but they are awesome to deal with and you can pay with Paypal (a deal breaker for me).

I had to do a bank transfer for mine direct from bacchus themselves which was a pain because like anything in this country it required the filling out of several forms and the balance would take 5 days to process, let alone land in the Japanese account. Thankfully Aki is a top geezer and he sent the bass anyway, which I find incredibly trusting.

Ok I picked it up earlier today but have been out most of the day and only just really had a chance to play it. First impressions - excellent. The fit and finish is top notch and it looks glorious! The pre amp seems extremely loud and nicely voiced. It came with elixir strings but a standars gauge which I don't like so I will have to change those for lighter gague ones asap, but for fingerstyle it sounds brilliant - very detailed top end with a really well defined B string, extremely tight and fosused. I have yet to try it slap style properly because a spare set of super light gauge strings I had were in fact pretty dead, so that might have to wait for a bit.

I am looking forward to recording this bass, I have no doubt it will cut through the mix really nicely.

I will wait until tomorrow to get proper pictures in natural light to show it off properly. I can't get over this pre-amp though, it has masses of boost avaliable! I will open her up and have a look inside shortly!

Cheers

Who did you buy this through?

Hi Toby,

I think I mentioned earlier in this thread or possibly another similar one that I got it direct from Bacchus themselves. My other I git from Ishibashi. Both have been superb service.

Oh, and here is an interesting development on the mis-spelt slogan on the headstock of the jazz bass models - the box my bass came in had the logo and underlying slogan spelt correctly!

Pics coming tomorrow!
