About 6-7 months ago I posted a thread about getting back out and start gigging again. Well...Saturday I will be doing just that. Last time was,oh...25 years ago! Playing with a great group of musicians that have been real supportive (not to mention patient) as I get up to speed. Guess you're never too old to rock!

I think I may have to change my user name now as well!

Last gig before current band was in 1974. Didn't pick up a bass or 6 string for more than 10 min at a time in the next 35 years. Retired and bored pulled the Gibson out from under the bed answered several CL adds and hooked up with a working group in April this year. Have played 10 shows since and have three more booked before the end of the year. Sixty years old and having a groovy, far-out time.:bassist:

I'm going through the same thing & having a blast. Started playing in 1966, set the basses aside in 1991 when I started my mastering business. Now retirement is approaching, so I got back into playing about 5 months ago. Had no problems with hand cramps or blisters. Everything about gigging is exactly as I remember it, except I don't remember being so beaten down the day after a gig. Wonder what caused that? This weekend will be very interesting as Friday and Saturday we're doing two nights in a row for the first time. So I'm not really planning on doing any major home repairs or anything Sunday.

Don't feel bad. I'm 37 and usually feel pretty beat down the day after a gig. 2-nighters dont usually make me feel any worse. Pulling a thur/fri/sat gig this week, but taking fri off work, so should be interesting to see how I feel come Sunday. Probably gonna be a pot o chili and football day kickin it in the couch!
