Back to just one bass

I am looking into possibly buying a house this Spring/Summer so I am unloading and selling a lot of my stuff that I no longer need or want and making some extra money in doing so. I am not selling because I have too, just "cutting the fat" so to speak. Last night I sold my '98 MIM Fender P with Fender HSC to a local guy because I use my 80's MIJ Fender P more and it is just a better bass all around and the MIM was just put in the closet to collect dust. I was glad I was able to sell it to a guy who would use it. I like to maintain a simple setup so I will be ok with just one bass for a while, I have done it before. If there ever comes a time where I would seriously need another bass I would just pick up a VM Squier P or something just as a backup, however for what I do now one is enough. Just a little story I thought I would share. I know lots of people do the one and only bass thing...then there are some who have to draw out of a hat to decide what bass they are going to use that night :p

Same here. I just bought a new bass to become my one and only, and my three other basses will all be going away. I am also selling off a lot of my pedals and other extra musical stuff. My goal is to get down to one bass, one decent amp rig, and a few basic pedals. Back to basics...

Ha ha I love steak! I guess I just appreciate my current bass and rig and have a lot of faith in it to that is all I use. GAS is always there, however over the the years I have learned to harness it. A lot of the time the stuff I look at is more so possible impulse buys of having to buy it only to find that I really did not need it. They are generally not regrets, however as the purpose of this thread says I have sold most of that off now anyways. I guess when you just find gear and a bass that just works that's when you can know you are set with just one setup. It allows you to appreciate more what you have and focus more on playing instead of all the fancy "bells and whistles." Everyone is different I guess.

Having a second bass is handy at times. Like when it time to change strings and you feel too lazy or forgot to and you don't want clanky newness right before a gig.

I really could do without one of them and survive...

I currently have 3 but I'm selling my old fender jazz as. I keep my first bass I ever bought for sentiment reasons and I don't think I'd get my out of it to make it worth it. I like having a basic setup where I don't need an engineering degree to get sound to come out of the speakers.

I'm in the same [DEL]boat[/DEL] house. 4 basses at the moment. Trying to offload one at the moment, another one likely to go soon. Keeping my main bass and one that probably won't fetch as much as I'd like.
Sold my spindle sander, sold two cabs, bought a smaller one back.

Not moving just yet because we put our house up for sale just a week ago and these days it may take a while before it's gone. But it's good to have as much money in the bank as reasonably possible when we're buying our next house.

Currently at 3, probably moving two. I'm just a hobbyist, so I don't need 2 basses sitting in the basement collecting dust.

I'll be left with a good bass, a good head, and a decent cab. That's all I need. (And this thermos.)
