Bad Grammar?

Ziss iss a goot zread....me like ze topic.

Well, being a non native speaker of English, I guess I can enjoy jester's license (if that is the right expression).
One reason for posting here, among countless other reasons (amps, cabs, basses, lots of strange pics...), is the English language.
I simply need practise and, yes, bad grammar drives me up the wall. But I think that refers more to my mothertongue.
My English might be crappy and make other people go nuts...
who knows...at least I don't have that horrible German accent.....:smug:..I swear.
I always try to watch my spelling and grammar, it just looks a bit "uneducated" ...IMO.

Could've. It's COULD HAVE, not COULD OF, you morons!!!

Their/they're/there failures drive me up a wall.

Like. It's not a bad enough social crutch to have to, like, use the word "like" as a, like, a placeholder for your ******** mind to formulate the rest of, like, a sentence. But when people actually, like, TYPE IT OUT IN A WRITTEN SENTENCE. Holy crappola.

"Know what I'm sayin". I swear, as Buddha as my witness, I watched an episode of Montel Williams, he asked a guest a question, and the first thing the moron said was, "Y'know what I'm sayin, it's..." *screetch* YOU HAVEN'T SAID ANYTHING! There's no possible way in Hades we'd be able to "know what you're sayin" you mental midget!!!

thanks for that. You know sometimes I really envy English native speakers a lot.
But on the other hand, if I was a non German native and had to learn German, including the grammar...oh mighty god.

Absolutely, the only way to learn a second language, apart from the people that grew up biligually, is the "grammar way". IMO

I have mentioned this before personally I have always struggled with grammar. I have never understood the need to have to call out and correct someone. For one you clearly know what they mean. It's also worth considering English may not be their first language, different walks of life some people don't get the oppurtunity to finish school or just struggle with it.

I have a lot of different friends some very educated, some not, some still learning English. I know some people who made the mistake of dropping out of school. I also know other people who had to drop out to work and support their family. If you had the oppurtunity to learn that's great but TB is a place people talk bass and relax. You could argue with internet you can look up spellings which I do sometimes. But other times I only have so long to be on TB and don't have additional time to look up spelling and just take the heat from the red pen.

You hate bad grammar but you started the thread with a post that lacks a complete sentence...

I don't see anything wrong with correcting people's bad grammar as long as you are doing it in a respectful way. People will never learn to correct their mistakes if they don't know they are making them. My issue is with people who are intelligent enough to understand the directions but too lazy to actually follow them. I also loathe how people have begun to use "u" and "r" as acceptable words.
