bad or good idea: 3x 15s

im thinking of upping the ante on my rig lately. right now i got 2 15s would 3 15s be too little variation in speakers or should i try adding say a cabinet of 4 10s or 8 10s or something like that to the mix instead of going for yet another 15 inch speaker?

That depends on what you're trying to get that you don't have now, but in most cases adding tens to fifteens is the wrong way to do it. The bitch is in the details, and you haven't provided any.
