Badass Bridge: Worth It?

1) You put a BA on your SCHOOL'S bass? you gonna take it off before you return it or did the school pay for the bridge?

2) Seems like everyone has a problem finding the right size allen, do a search, it's discussed here a lot.
3) If you bought the bridge new, I thought it came with the right seized wrench.

BadassII bridges will change you sound and not alway's for the better!

My experience is on a Pbass. Haven't tried it on a J. I've certainly lost no low end on it.

I bought mine in 1991 when I had to replace the screwed up bridge on my Washburn. I got it because Jason Newsted had one and I thought the name was cool.

Having installed and removed it from two different basses, I can honestly say it's the only one that says "badass" on it. My advice: Save your money. You'll hear more difference by changing to Monster Cable.

allens are one of those tools that I personally have never known the sizes, just grab all your allens and start shoving them in the hole until, Voila:eek: it fits.

Badass and Gotoh and all those companies selling replacement bridges sold us a bill of goods. It's snake oil. Anyone who tells me they can tell a difference between a Badass or a Gotoh or any other bridge is hearing things.

Now I will admit that some of these bridges do make your life easier with string changes. But I defy anyone to tell the difference between one bridge or another on a recording. And if you think I'm calling those of you with Badasses liars when you say you can hear the difference, I'm not. I just think you're hearing things based on the power of suggestion ;)

man...I don't know about all this...

I really can't hear a difference between a BAII bridge and a fender-type plate bridge...

I think the BAII is a good quality bridge and a nice feature on a bass, but then the Gotoh 201 and Hipshot A bridges are also quite nice...

I'm not a fan of String-through, for me, it's a waste of time...I'd never consider converting a bass to string-through, so that's out.

If I were building another bass, i'd probably go with a Hipshot or Gotoh (price consideration over the BA)...If I were repairing an existing bridge that was a
Fender-esque bridge, I'd probably just put in a decent after-market...

IMO, these Fender bridges are solid, I have them on two of my basses...if treated right, will last forever, and I can get all the action and intonation adjustments I require from them...no more, no less than a BAII that I have on another bass

Sound-wise...I don't get it...if you want more mass...why not just select a heavier bodied bass?

It's amazing how the power of suggestion can influence perception.
