Baddy One Shoe pedals

I just finished assembly on #001 this morning and will finish testing it tomorrow. Yours should be assembled and tested by next Tuesday at the latest. I might get it done tomorrow morning, but I've got a wedding to officiate in the afternoon, so fingers crossed.

I'm really digging this pedal on bass and guitar. It hits unity at close to 3 o'clock on the mild setting and around noon on the dirty setting, but for me the sweet spot is around 3 o'clock on the mild setting. Totally nails that tube-just-pushed-into-distortion vibe that you get on Motown records.

Dirty setting at 2 o'clock is all kinds of Kings of Leon grindy bass tones.

Also I beefed up the input cap for more bass goodness!

I just blogged about a pedal that I'm prototyping that actually has a 12ax7 tube in it, and the Wayfarer matches it in touch sensitivity and sounds about as close as solid state can get to the "tube" thing.

A finalized version will probably have a standby switch for the tube heaters, but will probably be a similar layout. It's all point to point on the inside, so there's actually a good deal of open space.

The Infinity Drive is a sweet, sweet, sweet pedal! It's not mild by anymeans, but it's very usable. You'll dig it.

I'm really excited I just ordered a Wayfarer and from what I've read and heard this should be exactly what I've been looking for. I've been looking for a nice warm and subtle overdrive. Can't wait until it shows up, I'll post my impressions when it does.

That is precisely what it is good for. I was using an old, broke-down solid-state SVT 350 at a rehearsal space last week and it even made that tolerable.

Also works great as an acoustic guitar pre-amp!

I don't have a production plan as of yet, but I would probably ball-park it in the $130 range and I'll probably do them as a special order instead of making a run of them. They'll come loaded with JJ 12ax7 tubes, and they can run at 9 or 12 volts. 12 is bigger and cleaner, 9 gives a little more grit.

You're killin me Jimmy. I had convinced myself the tube pedal was going to be out of my price range (thinking it would be $200+) so I went with the Wayfarer. And now you're telling us it's only around $130? I am content with what I have... I am content with what I have :)

Well, I don't really have a price structure for it yet. I'm probably going to up the quality of components in the final version (I just built the proto with spare parts) so, sprague caps and carbon comp resistors will up the ante a bit.

I probably should have said $150 ( or better yet not said anything until I priced it out) :)

Whatever it is, I want it to be a fair estimation of the time / components / etc. that go into it.
