Simple question guys, which one would you choose?
I'm looking for a replacement for my Aguilar DB659. Goal is to find a preamp that can be used on and off stage and has to have a instrument input as well as a mic input. Not to record vocals perse but to plug in a mic that I use on my upright. Tried the avalon U5, didn't like it that much. It sounded good and tight but it's missing a little attitude and grittyness. Besides that, the U5 doesnt have a mic input.
The aguilar leaving is just a money thing. In an ideal world the Bae or the UA would be an addition instead of a replacement.
Any thoughts? I'm well aware that there has been written a lot about both of these but I'm curious about what you guys think. I'm doing a lot of sessionwork so this thing needs to be more or less idiotproof. Not too much knobs, just basically plug and play. Hence the two choices..
Shoot!
